Torque Game Engine 1.5 Linux

Hello Guys!

It's so great TGE 1.5 is now released! It's nice to see TLK integrated already too. I've downloaded the TGE Linux 1.5 and compiled it successfully. I ran the demo and it's great as well. However, I'm still considered a newbie to TGE so I haven't used all of it's features. So, I want to ask any of you who have tried the TGE 1.5 on Linux to the fullest. Is there any reason I should stay away from it for now? I've been using TGE 1.4.2 on my project and I'm wondering if it would be stable if I made a switch to 1.5 now while I'm still at the early stages on my project?

GG you rock! GG Linux rocks too!

Hi Matahari,
I cant see any reason to stay away from it, and switching early on, in a project I think would be better than trying to port it later on,
I too have yet to get into the guts of it and have a real good play, learn the lighting kit etc,
there maybe the odd quirk somewhere but as a community I am confident we can sort any issues
I built 1.5 on opensuse10.1 and transfered it to my fedoracore5 mythtv box, and my suse10 box and it all worked fine, no crashes or anything, and they all networed up fine with my winxp and mac mini(the old one)
so i think the gamble to port now will pay off, (but dont shoot me if im wrong) ;-)
good luck with your project as well

Well, that's good to hear. I mean compared to my current 1.4.2 I know and have a gut feeling there are problems somewhere that I am yet to encounter. But the good thing about 1.5 for Linux is it "workable" out of the box compared to 1.4.2 (I was forced to switch from Suse10.1 to Ubuntu distro just to make it run with no crashes), which has problems with other distros before.

The best thing is that now finally linux windows and mac are all on the same version

so resources people make for windows wont be as complex to put into linux
