Upgrade Path to TGB Pro?

I'm very nearly settled on purchasing TGB. I don't think I'll need the full source for the forseeable future. If I were to purchase TGB, and then several months down the line I discover that I really need Pro, is there upgrade pricing to Pro, or would it be the full $250?

Good enough for me. Now to see if I can squeeze TGB into the budget this month...

I'm *not* intending to be rude here, but I do have a question: why is it $50 more to upgrade than buy TGB Pro straight off? It seems a little weird, considering how amazing GG have been with pricing pretty much everything else.

I think the original idea was that you get a $50 discount on the source when you buy it all at once.

That seems a little bit strange. I'm sure there are a lot of people like me who can't really afford to shell out an extra $150 to get Pro when they're not even entirely sure if there'll be a situation that they'll need it (especially when they paid $100 back in the day for Torque with source.) It's just a shame, really: had there been no difference in upgrade price I would have bought it months ago, but I've been to-ing and fro-ing ever since and I can't help but think that, whichever option I eventually choose, I'll be left with a slight hint of regret.

Personally, I'd regret not working on a game at the moment a lot more than missing the source. It's totally possible to make games in TGB without source - but if you know C++ and know you won't hesitate to add something of your own to the engine, then get the source. But really, making games is a lot more fun than thinking about making games ;)

I know it seems wacky, but the price is based on the tool (TGB) and the source (T2D). Think of Constructor packaged with TSE. It would make sense to offer a discount to those who bought them both packaged together. It's not necessarily how I would've priced it, but based on my financial history it's probably a good thing that I have no say in how products are priced.

Is this a hypothetical point or something I missed?

Hypothetical, though even if it weren't he was mentioning them as a combo pack type deal. If you were to purchase them together in a bundle vs. seperately it would make sense to get a discount :)

Personally I thought there was no penalty at all. I probably would've bought Pro if I'd looked closely enough to realize that. I just saw $100 + $1xx = $2xx and assumed there was no penalty, since GG's pricing is so fair generally.

Two cents: a $45 penalty for upgrading later seems a tad much. I understand GG pricing in an incentive to buy the Pro version right off, but I think $20-ish would be enough.Personally I thought there was no penalty at all.
