Torque Engine Demo Version 1.1 (mac)

by Robert G. Forth · in Torque Game Engine · 09/21/2006 (3:33 pm) · 6 replies

Im looking for a mac version of the Torque Engine Demo 1.1 (3D). The reason why I'm looking for it is to make a mac version of a free, mod friendly game called Blockland.

I found this link on the internet:
http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=9522185

The problem is: I cant find the correct version of the demo...
I looked for it on the Torque website, and google...

If someone can either send me a copy of the demo or a mac game demo that uses TGE 1.1, I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Robotguy4

(sorry if I posted in the wrong place)

Brickland is all script right? The odds are it could be ported without too much trouble to the Mac demo of 1.4 . However if you wanted, you could download the oooooold Realm Wars Mac version demo from here. The Mac build of RW is based on a very old build of TGE, probably somewhere around 1.1 or 1.2.

Could someone enlighten me?

Not a clue either, but it wouldnt work when I tried it... Also at http://www.shacknews.com/ja.zz?id=9522185 it said:

"It's related to the version of Torque I think or something like that. I remember it saying protocol version 1200 or something like that in the master list. Where as it says 1100 on the windows version.

Maybe try an older version off the Torque page if you can find it?"

As for the Realm Wars demo, that just might work...

@Robert, which Blockland file are you trying to use and what is the address I can grab it?

I got Blockland v002 from www.blockland.us, running with Torque 1.4.2.

It also worked under CrossOver (Windows emulator under osX for Intel based Mac), but only in "command run" mode. I wasn't able to play though but could get a list of servers when querying the master server.

With the 1.4.2 UB Mac version I had compiled (fresh from CVS, 1 week ago), I can play but cannot access previously listed servers in emulation mode.

Also: blockland is listed at winehq: here and is confirmed to be compatible with Wine emulation from which CrossOver is based.

RealmWars: the demo version I got from the RW pages doesn't work on my Intel Mac. I found there is a missing script file, but there might be a Intel processor trouble. It works with 1.4.2 and a fake script file.
I reported the problem to the RW team, and was expecting a reply, but at this time - and I'm unlucky with most developpers on earth - no news.
The complete version is available here: RealWars for Intel Mac (Universal Binary)

Hope it helps.
