I am just curious to know how 3ds max maya and lightwave line up whats the pros and cons other that price lol. I currently use milk shape and am thinking about moving up to light wave since it seems to be more affordable. I just wanted and opinion on this.

Nope. i Never needed the help. I have no issues rotating the viewport. That was Mincetro wanting some sort of gyroscopic correction for the viewport. I was simply providing some insight on how i do it.

I can't see why there would be any catch from ordering it from there. I have ordered several of the DVDs and have been most please. There should be no problem with ordering Lightwave. The only concern I would have with ZBrush is that I wouldn't get the free upgrade to 2.5. Other than that I can see no problems.

You should also check out Dan Ablan's site (3D Garage) for learning courses. I bought the LW9 signature coursware, and it's all encompassing; it comes on 2 DVD's, and you have access to Dan himself via e-mail. I've just skimmed over them so far (haven't had the time to get into them yet), but I'm planning on going through the entire course next week (17+ hours, with content). I've heard the Kurve videos are quite good as well, and I plan on getting one or two of those later on.-Keith

Modeler will rotate at the center of the view port. not just the origin/center of the object. I'm not certain if there's a way to rotate around the center in another manner. What may help is to specify certain viewport settings. Here's an example of the perspective view port i use.
::edit Gah, i had to fix them stupid links
