How do you control when terrain disappears?

Hello,
I have a nice terrain, but when I zoom out, at a certain point it disappears altogether. I've tried setting a treedepth of up to 7, but it still vanishes altogether when I'm not particularly far away from it.
I realize "not particularly far away" is not a precise metric. I guess I'm asking how I can control and predict this behavoir?

I thought it must be terrain related since it was just the terrain disappearing.
Thanks!! That was the last piece of my pipeline to work out! And it only took 9 months! hehehehe.
I love software.

Tree depth should have zero impact on from how far you can see an Atlas terrain.
