Anim speeds wrong

Hey

I'm having a problem, I;ve set maya up to be 30fps which is what your adviced to do and made a run cycle only its running slow in Showtools. I had to really scale the keys up in the graph editor to make him run at normal pace in TST, and to be honest...in maya it looks like he's been drinking rocket coffee.

Any help is appreciated but I have no idea what I've done or how to avoid this other than scaling the anim to run faster which is a terrible solution.

at 30fps my run cycle in maya was 52 frames long, at the end I had to speed the anim up so much that it ended up 21 frames big at 30fps - in maya he's like The Flash' and in TST its a steady jog.

Cheers.

Could someone also explain animation blending in maya for me aswell?

Ive done a melee attack animation and noticed that the ork's recoil anim has blending. My attack anim is 30 frames long and switched on blending. Whats the best way to get nice results with belnding? I choose frame 5 as my blend point and its abit messed up in TST.

Cheers

Don't ask me specific maya questions. I don't have nor use maya.
This is info that I found while doing a search on the site.

You may be having a problem with ground transforms/frame rate.

Get Amr's excellent maya export pdf.
Go to page 18 and you will see a listing of the sequence attributes.
There is a frame rate and ground frame rate. are they the same? if so, it may be fine in maya but in tge it will be slow. (should have a smaller ground frame rate)

Read the rest of the animation section. perhaps there will more info you can use to troubleshoot.

Yeah my frame rate set in the sequence node is 30 and my ground frame rate (I guess that is is translate speed) is set to 10

Thanks for the help though and that pdf will come in use, cheers.

I'm still having the problem and I'm also having some wierd problems with animations using blends - theres very little info on this kind of think for maya and the stuff thats out there seems to have holes and doesn't explain everything.

Did you get anywhere with this?

Sadly I haven't

I'm having to animate and then scale the keys in the graph editor till it plays to the correct speed in TST.

Mark.

21 frames for a run is pretty normal, if not a little slow. In Maya, check your preferences (button to the right of time slider) and make sure it's set to "RealTime 30fps" and not to "Play every frame".

Yeah I set the anim speed to 30 fps, trust me...something has gone alittle wrong as I had to speed his anim up so much he's running like he's in a mad benny hill sketch
