Thats MY opinion, regarless of its truthfulness, and I am entilted to my opinion thank you.

You're entitled to your opinion, sure, but you need to expect to be ridiculed when your opinion is stupid. Oh, and your opinion is stupid.

I never insulted or intented to insult anyone personally here, so be kind, and do the same thing.

No, instead you insulted an entire subculture. Good for you.

Here's the thing, and I'm talking as someone who has been a part of the goth/industrial scene for 15 years: the goth subculture isn't a violent one at all. As a friend of mine put it, the worst thing a goth might do to you is dance at you dramatically. So to try to pin something like this on goth culture is at the height of ignorance. You can have some nihilists associate themselves with that scene, but you can't blame goths for that. Instead, blame the psycho. This wasn't caused by what music he listened to, or what clothes the people around him wore, or what video games he played. It was caused by HIM making a DECISION to kill. I want to know why everyone is looking for a scapegoat, when the scapegoat is the guy with the gun.

Stop being so reactionary, and smarten up.

Did you really have to link goth an industrial?
But yeah other than that what you said.

@Mincetro: Because, no matter what either group says, they're linked. It's like a bad marriage, but we're staying together for the childre- er, music. Or something. :-)

If it weren't for goth influences, what do you think batman, sin city, interview with the vampire, (countless more) would look and feel like? goth influences things we enjoy every day, people are just too ignorant to open their eyes and see it.

Same thing with techno. People scoff at it and the ravers, yet every damn commercial (vehicles in particular), movie trailer, action film and many major tv shows (nip/tuck) use techno music constantly.

Get a grip. Like Tim said, stop acting like pshyco's don't have control over what they do. If Marilyn Manson trained murderers then I'd be elsewhere atm. "No, really, it's not a gun in my pocket, I'm just happy to see you."

I know I going catch hell for this one. It is simple we donot force the laws in this country (US). We do not teach our children respect or correct behavior the way we should. Until we come to terms with this we will have innocent people kill for no reasons. We like to point fingers at everything else just look at the pass has point fingers change anything. Children grow up today know and feel they can get away with anything if you dont believe me than listen to them and you will find out. I see it all the time kids walk up the road at late hours and break into people house and tear up someone else property.

I think that children should be hobbled. That way they're easier for their parents and the cops to catch.

EDIT:
Clarity.

1. Media and entertainment don't train people to kill people.
2. Weapons don't kill people.
3. People kill people.

It's that simple.
But since I know someone's going to bring up the fact that weapons are for(at the very least) severely damaging things, be they objects, or living beings. Do remember that:
4. People made weapons.
You all know why.

The main issue here, which also pops up in alot of areas when you think about it, is causal relationships. what caused what? do violent videogames cause children to become more violent, or does an innate tendency toward violence cause some children to prefer violent videogames? if it's the latter, do videogames provide an outlet for aggression, or just feed it?

videogames will always catch heat for violence whenever possible, and for some reason videogame players will always feel the need to defend their hobby. personally, I find books to be much more effective at brainwashing than videogames could ever be. I wonder if writers ever feel the need to defend themselves like that.

Centuries worth of book burning and pamphleteering and moral criticism have had authors justifying their content in much the same way, whether it be dramatic texts, poetry, or the relatively recent emergence of the novel.

Have any video games led to the invasion of one country by another? when video games lead to genocide, then you can start talking about how it influences people to kill.

the cause for murder can easily be explained - envy and/or rage. that's what causes people to kill. even the crazy people.

can obsessing or playing at killing influence someone to see killing as a less consequential choice? sure. but's it's never caused someone to want to kill in the first place.

that said, i also have to say this -

people who makes or plays a game about raping and murdering people are either utterly ignorant or simply sick mother fuckers.

what kind of an unfeeling asshole would make a game about reliving the columbine shooting?! someone needs to make those assholes meet the kids who survived the shooting and explain how fun it is to pretend to kill their friends and cripple the survivors for life. the assholes.

@Anton - Almost, haven't you seen War Games? ;) I think GG needs a little black box button that goes off when Anton posts which edits out his rampant swearing =P.

@Anguel - This is such a lame quote "guns don't kill people, people kill people". Are you serious? Guns ENABLE the EASY killing of people. That's the problem with guns. Guns have their place, but their place isnt' keeping them where they belong. It's so easy to find a gun on the street and it's a hell of a lot easier to point and CLICK (pun intended) than any other form of murder. You never hear of a kid accidentally stabbing his little brother 10 times because dad left the knife cabinet open. Yes, people will find other ways to kill people, but all the people who kill now that WOULDN'T if they didn't have a gun, well.. you get the idea.

Just because you need a human to pull the trigger, doesn't mean you aren't responsible for what you spew out on the other end of the barrel.

Everyone just needs to take a chill pill...

I may be the most certafiable lunatic in here, actually, I am certafied... So please, do not say it was cause he was psyco... I played Dungeons & Dragons, all kinds of shoot 'em up games while I was growing up, driver where I drive stolen cars and speed away from cops ditch the cars and steal another, NASCAR super fast driving, Quake, Doom, Unreal, GunZ (Recent invention), Heros, Martial Heros... The list goes on, I have 2 desk drawers full of games, and gaming materials, drawer dimentions 3.5 ft. x 2.5 ft. x 7 in. And I have well over 400 movies, and over 40 PS2 games, and over 150 SEGA games, never once, did any of these games change my attitude towards anyone, or anything... And some of these games are adult content.

The Real Me:
In the real world, I have 3 kids, I own my own home, have 8 vehicals, 2 run... I usually drive 5 miles an hour under the speed limit... I don't like fighting, and I don't watch sports... I do not watch comercials, most of them give me headaches, that is why I have the movies, and now I know why, thank you. Comercials are loaded with techno, if it's got a bass in the music, of suffisient loudness I get headaches, High piches are basically shrills, and there's another headache... Volume around my house stays very low for the most part.

Reality Check:
10% of the US population is in Psyco wards.
27% of the WORLD population is behind bars.
10-15% are set free daily cause of over crowding in the prisons.

It's human nature to do acts of Evil. That is why I comend people that strive to do good.

Bottem line, morallity is the key issue here. The way people are jumping about the game(s) getting hammered and scruitinized, sounds almost like they are either creating games that are morallily improper, or they had been thinking of creating a simular game.

About the idea for the game of the twin towers... This game should of come out about 10 years ago, at least that way they would of been smart enough to have included the proper extinguishing systems is sutch tall buildings, almost in the direct path of aircraft and one of the airport's runways nearby, Just under normal landing proseadures (about 350 feet down and 500 feet to the side). This insident could of happened at any time, should a plain's navigation fail, and visibillity be reduced to 400 feet due to low cloud cover and fog. They said,"I never thaught a plane would crash into the towers."... Commen sence people...

About the game, "Rape the Coed"... There are some games like this out already, and available in the Adult section of the internet... Tho they are not called "Rape" tho the underlying structure could be introduced as such. 75% of the internet is actually envoloped by Adult content, 22% gaming, 6% news, 1% education, 1% other. (Last sensus from 1997)

Games like these are actually in use by the governmental officials in helping to solve and determine why some people do it, after the purpatratore has been shot to death by the police. It Coinsides with a SIMS type of envioonment, with daily life added in, to try to see what caused it... When all they need to do is look up the statistics, It's called, "Human Nature", and these people need to start taking blame for thier actions...

Quote:Tho they are not called "Rape" tho

Lots of japanese games actually have it in the title: Battle Rape series, etc.
