Is the TGB Installer Necessary?

Sorry if this has already been discussed... I didn't see this discussed in any of my searches.
I was wondering if TGB (and TGE, etc.) could be made available through two means: an installer for those who want one and a simple .zip file for those who don't. I'm unfond of the various installations taking up space in my Start Menu.
Thanks!

For now, I just copy the directories to another folder and then uninstall TGB. I would like to avoid that step (while still taking advantage of the pre-packaged deliveries).

Without uninstalling, I would assume that it would still sit in the Control Panel's "Add or Remove Programs" list. For now, I just copy the directories to another folder and then uninstall TGB. I would like to avoid that step (while still taking advantage of the pre-packaged deliveries).

You can trick that too, just copy the directory and let it uninstall. Alternatively you can look up the reg entries for the uninstall list and manually remove it from there too.

When the Linux build is uptodate, it's easiest to just download that instead (click on the OS icons on the download page to see downloads for all OSs). Usually it's a .zip rather then an installer, and the source is the same. It's not always as uptodate as the Windows and Mac builds, though, so sometimes you can't avoid the installer.

As I understand it, the main reason for the installers is to make it easier for those that are inexperienced. can't find any reg entry's except some for tgb/tgb.exe, so i don't belive you need the installer. I'd just zip up your installed folder for future installs.
but a non-installer version is always nice for when the ms installer borks. :)
