Level editor with your game

Question about this part in the license. "(iv) create a Product which is itself a game engine or game-making tool without the express written consent and permission of GarageGames;"

Does this mean that you cant ship a level editor with your game? So if my "game" is based on building and playing multi-user, DM, FPS then am I in violation?

I can only answer from the point of TGB, but I suspect TGE is similar. Basically, you can't write a game maker type application, so writing Fantastic 2D Game Maker with TGB is a no-no.

However, you can write your own level editors that only run on your game. There are a couple of TGB games around that ship with their own custom level edtiors.

As I said, I don't know specifically about TGE, but I reckon it's going to be the same thing as the EULA is so close to that of TGB.

I guess I'm in a grey area then and it all depends on how you define "game-making tool". Seems like if someone wanted to make a "game-making tool"/level editor specifically for TGE GG would want that because it would increase TGE sales.

I would email GG or wait for an answer here. I'm pretty sure it will be a yes but you never know.

You can make a level editor. The difference between TGB and TGE is that you are not allowed to send uncompiled script along with your EXE in TGB and you can with TGE.
