Ive ran some searches but can't find a thread that helps...i'm about to model a playable character but was trying to see if it was best to model them attached to the body mesh or seperate and possibly see an example

I'm not quite sure what you're asking.
Perhaps a little better explaination may help.

Wow...i didn't notice all the detail missing until i stepped back...ok...I meant the seperate pieces like arms to body and legs to body or torso...some people model them connected while others independent

Ok. i see what you're saying now.
Personally. I model the characters as one single mesh, to avoid "seams" in body parts. But what i may do is have certain objects, like hair, clothes, a separate mesh.

I don't really have any examples.

But here's a link to my last blog. It has "a" picture of one of my characters in the works.

As i model, i model the character with many layers, there's a base nude layer, then layers of different clothes. For a final "game" model, i'll just delete the unseen polygons, maybe create some new geometry to fill in any gaps.

Btw I was also going to be doing mesh hiding meaning Im going to have interchangeable pieces...kinda like WOw and Oblivion
