I have been hitting the Garage Games site pretty hard over the last couple weeks... must say how impressed I am... "I'm impressed" and I also want to say excellent work..
This explosion of goodwill was triggered by looking at the site info... That being the hardware and software section of the site... and thinking... man somebody designed this, set it up, maintains it, and keeps working to improve it...
A lot of thought obviously went into this place... the site does a lot to present information in a digestable format.
The My Garage feature is really good at keeping track of your own threads and posts... it's good to be able start the day with a click on it and see if anything on something you were interested in has since been posted on...
It's ALSO really cool how you can click on another user and get a .plan and a history of their threads and posts... affiliated projects /companies /resources ... this is great for checking out who that dude is that just made that really annoying, I mean helpful, post is :)
The CVS change list is handy... nice quick way to see if you should update or just keep working on whatever it is you are doing...
Being able to MODIFY your posts is a HUGE boon... this helps you clarify your thoughts when you should have spent a few more minutes before hitting submit... or retract a flame you made in the heat of the moment... I mean really, this feature could be used more... if you hit submit and then quick scan your post and think damn I screwed that all up... just modify it... sweet sweet feature... as I am always second guessing myself :)
One feature that could use improving is the search... people really need to be able to search message bodies and not just titles... I see a place holder for this... groovy...
I also would suggest a location field that could be added to marketplace posts... that way people could search by city, state, or country and find people/opportunities in their area...
In short: The Garage Games site is a very real productivity tool... it is also enjoyable to use... sometimes I think a bit too :)
I honestly can't compare it to any other game development resource I have found in any medium... you guys have the goods... in more ways than one...
If people capitalize on your continued hard work by adding their own... this will become that elusive snowball effect everyone is looking for... watch out below!
Keep on rocking in the free world,
-Josh

The downside is that it's so much fun surfing the community that it's easy to not get any work done!
Well Done GG.
