Hehe, welcome. Hey John, we must be getting close to 20 Linux users here. I wonder how many mac users there are.

Cool, not only another linux user, but one with a Skeletor icon. We were lacking that.

If we haven't hit 20 yet, let me add one to the count. Hi everyone.

I'm currently doing the level design for a Torque game, applying the T2 mapping skills I acquired during beta and meta testing. Yes, I'm the Falcon who wrote the original/first T2 mapping tutorial. Beta-testing T2 was the last thing I did on windows, ever since I've been windows-free. (geez, does that sound like an alcoholics anonymous confession or what? :-) )

I'm only a linux user on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday.

if (_strcmp(day, "Tuesday") == 0 || _strcmp(day, "Friday") == 0 || _strcmp(day, "Sunday") == 0)
torqueusers++;
else
torqueusers--;

OS X does indeed rule, especialy on my dual 1Ghz with geForce 4 :)

I cant get it to compile under debian on my Athlon (GeForce 2), it says the makefile is broken.

any clues?

I will add to the number :)
I use linux extensively at home for my web/ftp/cvs/ssh server and another one as my internet firewal, no need for those stinking 100$+ linksys routers :)

The structure of open source will drive development; but like gravity, will larger bodies (IBM, Adobe, EA) capture smaller bodies (open source) and thier satellites(individuals.)

I see OSS's future in the public domain. Education, science, government. That's why I'm designing for educational gaming.

If its good enough for PIXAR and the Dept. of Defence, its good enough for me.

Allrighty then,
I have no Idea where to post this, so I guess here is as good a place as any. I am a newb to the linux world, and the programing world. I recently built a new 64bit computer, but I want to take the old computer parts I have and build a linux based PC for use to learn programming. (Games, audio editing progs, and whatever else I get the itch to try) What is the best Linux OS to use for the hobby programmer with ability to grow. I am going to purchase Torque but really want to see how much I can do for as little $$ as possible. This is just for fun and hopefully I can learn a ton. Thanks for your time folks.
