I never realized it before, but Tribes 2 has more gimps than any

Just from the few times I've been around Tribes 2 forums, I've been amazed how immature many of them are. Tribalwar forums have constant posts from people reminding everyone how much they suck, and how they are the most amazing person in the cyberworld. "Custom" signature images designed to make everyone else feel inferior, and cool phrases like "you suck ****" and racial slurs tossed around like a salad.

Even more annoying was over at G4Tv's forums, you know... the new Gaming TV channel. Half a dozen die-hard Tribes 2 people basically assaulting the entire community as long as they aren't willing to say that Tribes 2 is the only game worth playing. "Don't cover Counter-Strike! TRibes 2 is only game worth playing!"

I always thought people who played Tribes 2 were people who wanted good gameplay, and would have to be slightly more mature then the children who are constantly related to Counter-Strike and Quake. Now I've seen that it's just the opposite.

Strange indeed...

I've had similar things happen. A good engineer and a Group of 5 or 6 Tanks can take out a base with little to no effort as long the the engineers are good and know how to repir and hide behind a tank correctly. :)

I prefer to be a sinper and pick off the engineers as they are trying to repair buildings and tanks or makeing there way to my base. ;p

I'm currently with Clan -GC- but that maybe changeing if we dont start working more as a team and all showing up for matchs. All I wanted was a team of 5 to 15 people that dont mind haveing matchs every other day or two and pratices and such. I didnt thank that was too much to ask but apparently it is :/

you want "gimps" look at the Half-Life Mod "community", it is about as much a "community" as prison inmates are a "community"

The worst are the Counter-Strike forums, closely followed by the ignorant and idiotic posts in the Day Of Defeat forums and FireArms forums.

Lots of "kids" that know everything and have no manners.
I am sure there are some adults in the mix, but it gets REALLY BAD during Christmas Break and the Summer when all the kids are out of school.

That is why I bought TGE, I am going to port my mod to TGE.

The best community I have seen so far is probably the Global Ops

community www.globalopsgame.com

I've given up on T2 because nobody uses Teamplay... the game would be a lot more popular if people would! the T2:Fast Attack project is more like T2: "Lets play Deathmatch"... all they want to do is make the game faster and the bases closer to cater to the DMers out there (can you say 95% of the communtiy?)

From what I've seen so far, Global Ops has the best community on the forums AND even ingame... of course you get your measure of jackarses, but most of the players will change classes if their team needs something different or will offer support/medkits/cover for players... I even had a guy who was really badly hit offer me his gun to continue on since it was better than mine!

my 2 cents...

I came across a fine example on a Dod server. I legally killed an enemy, and he called me a "fag". After that he proceeded to call me every name under the sun, although most were related to being a homosexual. He even claimed to have done something sexual to my mother. If nothing else, it was fun baiting him, especially with the sloppy kiss I gave him before I left the server! Me immature? Ha! :P

Like any game, you'll find opposites. In the past two days I've played with some incredibly talented gamers on DoD. They were all team oriented and that subtle ability shone through in the number of games we won.

I think it's pot luck as to whether you hit a server full of gimps or goodies.

You know what? I tend to ignore ppl that you guys are refering to.

I'll quote a little remark that one of my friends said that made me laugh and think at the same time..

"Hold still while I right click...."

What this means, is use the in game mute button, which is very powerful. I find it very necessary these days as a lot of the popular Public servers are jam packed with morons who love the vgr* and vgw (of which i find rather annoying after a while). And global chatting.

I play for a comptetitive team in T2 (right now we are on hold pending the imminent joining of the base++ ladder on TWL) and in matches, most teams we've played are cordual and sportsman-like, which tends to tell me that if you want something like that, don't go to pubs. They'll only frustrate you, which is why you won't see me in a pub very often anymore. A teamwork oriented game can only be that if you have a team. I think some of the community features that Dynamix added to the game make it a great way to actual "do" some teamwork. The team browser and invite system is one to note. The buddylist is another. When I want to go play a little in a public server, I just run my buddylist and go into a game where a buddy is playing. These people I "know" will work with me and we'll have a greater experience than just doing things on my own.

Just my 2 cents.

I play RTCW a lot, and I have noticed that jackasses don't play on limited life servers. At least most of the time.
