Ok, just had a few simple idea's I thought I'd throw around..
Remember Deer Hunter? well, why not take the reverse line and do a "Wildlife Photographer".
The basic idea is to track and photo X creatures in different settings. You get tools to try and prompt actions in the creatures.
You score points on the photo's composition and by the type of action in the photo.

I actually think thats a good idea since all those hunting games have been selling well this game will be more unique and maybe all the hunting fans and the the anti hunting people will come after this game.

And, if you want to bring in the post about bringing in corporate sponsorship, you get a major soft-drink company to endorse your product, such that when you get that stellar photograph of Jim with the python wrapped around his torso, it cuts to a commercial after a still-frame (insert appropriate music) and a message that says, "Wild Kingdom will be right back after these messages." It gets you money, and gets the player to watch a commercial.
Heck, you could integrate multiplayer mode by allowing a second player to be Assistant Jim, or a single-player "Jim Mode." Of course, I would have to recommend integrating a God cheat into that particular game setting.
I think this is pretty much the perfect game concept, provided you could get the Wild Kingdom license. Settings from the Sahara to the Serengeti to the swamps of Florida. There's nothing quite as good as Wild Kingdom.

Actually, I think this is a great idea. All you need is to get Mutual of Omaha to sell you the rights, and you've got: WILD KINGDOM! Yes, that's right, everyone. You play the Marlin Perkins role and host the different photographic "missions," while "Assistant Jim" is put in danger of being eaten by that python you really wanted to take a picture of.And, if you want to bring in the post about bringing in corporate sponsorship, you get a major soft-drink company to endorse your product, such that when you get that stellar photograph of Jim with the python wrapped around his torso, it cuts to a commercial after a still-frame (insert appropriate music) and a message that says, "Wild Kingdom will be right back after these messages." How about dino-photographer?...an online game where you run around a small island trying not to be dino food while takeing pictures of other players being eaten...the pictures could be posted in the game lobby for players to vote on, etc..

This could be a cool game for kids...Actually I think there was a Pokemon game sorta like this on the N-64 (take pictures of "rare" pokemon, or some such thing)...Mmm..maybe combine this with your "poochie park" idea...kids could take pictures of thier pets doing tricks for in game prizes and such...How about dino-photographer?...an online game where you run around a small island trying not to be dino food while takeing pictures of other players being eaten...the pictures could be posted in the game lobby for players to vote on, etc..

My poochie park idea is really getting good now. I'll try and post a design treatment sometime in the near future (want to polish it a bit and run it by JT and some others).

Yeah, pokemon snap used this idea. I just thought it might work with the hunting / anti-hunting lobbies as well.My poochie park idea is really getting good now. I'll try and post a design treatment sometime in the near future (want to polish it a bit and run it by JT and some others).

say your a cryptozoologist searching for all those cool animals thet arnt supposed to exist like the Bunyip.
heres a great page. http://www.cryptozoology.com/home.asp
i was watching a program on the learning channel the other day called X-Creatures and their host was just some guy who set up cameras in the brazilion jungle to get pictures of this monkey/man creature. he didnt get pictures of that but he discovered no less than 2 birds one of which was supposed to be extinct.
this could be loads of fun.

Brain Quinn has been talking to me about a similar idea for a research project. The idea is to take real satellite geographic data and overlay it with species population data. That way kids could enter a fairly realistic area of the real world, and photograph the animals or look at population data maps. Overlaying population studies from past years would be very enlightening.Jeff Tunnell GG

Was an interesting idea, but poorly implemented.

Creative Multimedia did a dinasaur game using this theme several years ago. The players' quest was to travel through time photographing various dino's and building up a photo album. Was an interesting idea, but poorly implemented.

I'm willing to bet that this dinosaur-photography game failed because it couldn't live up to Wild Kingdom. All it really would've needed was Marlin Perkins and "Young Jim," and the developers could've had a really amazing game. "Oh no," says Marlin Perkins. "It looks like the Tyrannosaurus has spotted Young Jim. Let's see what happens next." And then we get a freeze-frame while the T-Rex is swinging Young Jim around like a chew-toy. Seriously, if you're too young to remember Wild Kingdom, ask someone (preferably male) who watched a lot of television in the era of Welcome Back Kotter. They'll tell you that this Crocodile Hunter guy has got nothing on Young Jim.
