Sky Defender is being released for free

by Tom Ogburn · in General Discussion · 08/06/2006 (12:09 pm) · 16 replies

I've had links to the alpha's of Sky Defender in the TGB private forums and have received a lot of good feedback there and in email. Sky Defender is now in the Beta stage (version 0.8) and I've decided to give it away for free. I will also be working to complete it and develop a flurry of other free mini games in TGB over the next few weeks to help drive traffic to my site.

It is currently a windows only MSI and is 3.78 MB. I would like to do a Linux version, but life has gotten in the way, see the download page for details. I don't have a Mac, so that is pretty much out of the question for me personally at this point. If anyone is really interested in porting it to Linux or Mac and can prove that they have a TGB source license then I am willing to share the source. :)

Download page for Sky Defender here.

Women are spiteful, needlessly spiteful!

I can't think of a better word to describe a woman such as your ex wife.

Sell your house if you have to. Don't let that psychotic, rabbit head boiling witch further harm your daughter in any way!

I will donate next pay week.

Tom... you might want to update your grammar in the description of your game.
Quote:
"Collect power ups while you can, because the farter from Earth you get, the longer it takes them to appear."

Best of luck with everything else.

Ummm Ben,
to be technical that is not a grammar error
it is a spelling error.

:)

Hehe... that's true... but then again, if its not a spelling error, the grammar usage of the descriptive adjective (the farter - the one who farts - who is from Earth) is incorrect. :)

Lol, you sneaky dawg..
I did not consider that there could be a farter from earth!

I guess that is why You get the big bucks huh?

Thank you for all the moral support guys. I have updated the page. Basically we've come to a temporary agreement where I get my daughter in the mornings and early afternoons (yes, when I'm supposed to be working my day job), and I've added my first few life lessons. I also updated the spelling mistake :)

I think I'm going to have to make each section a separate blog post and link to it on that page, otherwise it's going to get extremely long and hard to keep up with updates. Since my stress level has dropped from a 10 to a 9, I should be able to code and blog more now. ;) Unfortunately this situation is far from over, but atleast we have a signed, legally enforceable, agreement that I get to see my daughter almost everyday.

Hey guys,

I wish I had a million dollar budget to help take care of one of our own but I dont, so I am calling on GarageGames and the the community to step forward and take care of our own.

@Tom: I had my daughter stolen from me too, unfortunitly her mom won, my ex mother in law is a doctor at Lakeridge health, she had a DNA test rigged to say someone else was the father. I shelled out $5000 for my own DNA test with hair tags I had saved (I am smart most days) which came back that I am 100% the father, but the ontario court wont hear it, they accepted the first one from my ex and dont want to even look at something that might prove the original test was altered. Stay strong man I have been where you are, I just hope it works out better for you.

I have updated the page with a new Life Lesson. I added it as a summary of a more detailed Blog Post.

For those who want to help and can't give money (I'm an indie dev too, and know there's not much there :)), if you can post a link to my page in your blog roll that would really help. If you do that and want me to link back, let me know and I'll do it. Eventually the traffic will reach the tipping point and it will be read by someone who can help, and even if not, it will be read by some one going through a similar situation and they can get some knowledge out of it.

If anyone has any questions about what is going on or the process, I'm also considering adding a FAQ page, so ask away. And keep the well wishes coming, I can already see the universal tide turning, I just have to get past that whole antiquated "with the mother is always best".

@The Trusted One
I'm sorry to hear that, if you have any Life Lessons you'd like to share I can add them to the list on my site.
My wife wouldn't do that (DNA). She's in it for the money and won't get any if there's no dad.

PHP, unfortunately no. I'm first a C++ guy, then after that I'm pretty much a Microsoft Guy with experience in VB6/.Net, ASP/.Net, and C#. Mainly because my day job is for one of the biggest MS pushers in the world.
