I HATE QUARK!
there we go... its done ... so I am checking out the demo of 3D World Studio and I am wondering if there are any good tutorials on modeling within it?
Thanks in advance.

I have this one from 3DGamics.com; it's pretty straight forward, and will get you up to speed quickly.3D World Studio Tutorial Video

How many videos or tutorials are in the "3D World Studio Tutorial"? Can you tell me what is covered? Just curious as that link doesnt really say much.

I believe there's about 6 videos, starting you off with a tour of the interface, a few simple objects; and then showing you how to create the prison scene that is shown. It doesn't cover Torque integration, just a general overview. I bought it awhile back, so I don't know if anything's been added since then,-Keith

Where can I find those videos Keith?

Trusted One, just follow the link in keith's post above to get to the videos or follow the link below. I believe its about 35 bucks. Here's the link:

You may also want to look at Delgine for a possible tool for creating stuff for Torque. There is a Torque exporter plugin being working on and it is in the Alpha state. And they have a "Lite" version that is free.

Thanks Keith.. I think I may give it a miss.. I do have 3D world studio but I think Ill save my money for constructor instead of getting the video tutorial. I've been able to get stuff in and out of 3D World Studio so I think ill probably just spend more time working on the app until constructor comes out.. I've only been following things on Constructor once in awhile. The last I heard in was in the Beta Tester's hands.-Keith

And it is Soooooooo close it hurts.
I test it and it is missing very little to make it production usable.
I did recently purchase 3D World Studio, but I feel that Constructor is already that far along.... and beyond.
It was a bad buy, but I needed to really test everything.... so I have it as well.
Helps me test passing maps back and forth.
Anyway, unless you need DIFs immediately, I'd wait for Constructor.
After testing them ALL (QuArK, Hammer, 3DWS, Constructor, Max2Dif, etc), Constructor will by far be the best for use with Torque when it is 1.0

Forgive me if this has been mentioned, but has a price been announced for constructor?

Is the modeling in it similar to 3DWS/Cart. Shop, or more like a standard modeler?-Keith

Constructor is going to launch with an Introductory Offer of $59.95 for Indies and $299.95 for Commercial developers. This will be a limited time offer (something like 3-4 months) and then the price will be going up so it will be worth your while to jump on sooner rather than later. This is one of the reasons for the long development cycle on Constructor. We want to launch with a *very* solid and *very* usable product from Day 1 that people will be totally comfortable switching over to.

You don't model in build, so it will be the same as all of the rest.

Though the csx format works well within the confines of the editor, working within the same environment that your are exporting to is great. It is like using WED with A6. Sure, it has been used with a lot of other projects because it is a great, intuitive world editor...but it is made for A6 and works best with 3D GameStudio A6. Constructor works best with Torque, hands down.

I haven't seen many tutorials on it, but there's a Torque-oriented video here.
You might try some of the Cartography Shop tutorials; it's my understanding that they're very similar, CS being the earlier version of 3DWS.
Good luck!
