Vehicle Tutorial

I really need help.
I've tried all the Blender vehicle tutorials I could find and I always get this:
Processing Scene...
Cleaning Preference Keys
Exporting...
Writing shape to 'D:\Blender 2.42a\.blender\office chair export.dts'.
Processing...
Error: Exception encountered, bailing out.
exceptions.Exception
How can I fix this?

If someone can even post a screenshot of the heirarchy for a vehicle I should be able to solve this.
Unless it's an error with the script.

You should have a hierarchy like this:
DetailXX could be like Detail32. Shape is the mother of all objects and everything is a child of shape. When you grab shape does it drag everything else? Col0 is the collision parent for the collision mesh. Not needed for export, but engine will crash if the vehicle does not have a collision mesh.
Are there any other shapes not in the hierarchy with names like I mentioned before with numbers or dots or spaces, etc? I think those have the potential to hose the exporter. Either that or you have a really old version of the exporter or some version mismatch or Blender to exporter.

If you want you can send me the blend and I can look at it. It may be simple and it may be a some obscure issue.You should have a hierarchy like this:

I have everything that you said. I'm using the newest versions of Blender and the exporter.What nodes are required with Blender?

If you have everything then there is some misc item with bad name or a bad hierarchy. Did you ensure that when you grab the shape node that everything moves with it? Without looking at the blend I am at a loss now.

I successfully exported a vehicle into starter.fps in the previous version of blender. Should I go back to that?
EDIT: The only solution i've found is to go back to Blender 2.41, as it works perfectlly with the exporter.

I tried it. I get the same error if I try to export the example. I tried to rename the .001, .002, ect and export again. Same error.I successfully exported a vehicle into starter.fps in the previous version of blender. Should I go back to that?

I've applied patch but it didn't help, I can't get the exporter to work :(

Does the exporter care which version of Python that it should be using?
