Is it just me, or is this forum and site crawling??
For the past 2 days, it's been almost impossible to browse the threads.

It's noticeably slower today, but not unusable; I've had no real trouble browsing through posts.

Man, a REALLY slow website for me always is 1up.com... sucks. The GG site is generally pretty fast for me.

from work, where the rest of the internet is generally speedy,
the GG site suddenly takes like Ten Seconds to load the "What's New" page.
from home, via cable modem, it goes takes the usual 1/2 second.
i visit the GG site a lot from work,
i wonder if maybe the site is throttling the bandwidth for my work IP ?

i talked w/ GG a bit and they said it's normal & correct for ping & traceroute to timeout once they hit GG's firewall.
so i'm not sure.
it's definitely odd.
i'm going to keep poking at it and i'll post if anything comes up.

Stefan - has the site always crawled for you ? the crawling behaviour just started for me around august 1.i talked w/ GG a bit and they said it's normal & correct for ping & traceroute to timeout once they hit GG's firewall.

No, it started around July->August. It could be (and probably is) a route problem though I do not have any slowdowns at other American sites.
It's no big deal (I'm used to 56k modems) for me, but it's there.
Edit: Spelling.

i wonder if i could set up a proxy somewhere and view it thru that.
hmm. i've never fooled with proxies before.

Huh, that does kinda indicate it's a routing thing near the GG side of things.i wonder if i could set up a proxy somewhere and view it thru that.

It's 'cause AT&T decided that we're using too much traffic reading the GG forums, so they throttled them on the backbone so that their IPTV can get through better. You know, gotta keep them T00bs clear for the important traffic! ;-)

In my case it seems the bottleneck is before packets hit the router in New York.
So you can probably disregard my previous feedback, sorry about that.
