Creating my own dedicated servers

In light of my beginning this grand adventure of making an fps, I was offered a fully dedicated server to my disposal. I was wondering if i still had to go through gg's master server or if there was a way that i would be able to make my own Master. The server is Linux based and i have no idea as to how i am supposed to set this up. My buddy is willing to give me 4 different ips to use and i didn't know if i could have the servers be up with different map selections and such. TY for all the replies and I am getting very far with this thus far. (the books are awesome) :P
**Edit** i forgot something. I also have another friend with a server as well with some bandwidth...and a few others....i was wondering how i could connect all of them to go through the master which the player would log into when they "create their server". Have a grand network. Any info would help and does it have to be port 28000???or could it be something else? and how do i set up the database for user login? I have a few of the books for this but the scripts aren't the same at all

If you want users to log in, grab the OBDC resource.
If you want a master server, grab the master server resource.
You should be able to bind these in a modified version of you're game for the linux server.
So long as you tell the client the ip and port of the master server (in some prefs.cs files), you will not need the GG one.
Ports are completely variable as the IP/Port is listed in full on the master server.
Hope this helps!

Buying the TNL sdk will earn you little. All of TNL that you want is allready in TGE.If you want users to log in, grab the OBDC resource.
