Poly Count

I was wondering if anybody knew or could take an educated guess at about how many polygons are in the character models in games like Virtua Fighter 4 or Tekken 4?

And another question is, if I were using the Torque engine and created a small level compared to normal Torque levels, and I had minimal archetecture and only allowed four characters in this area at a time, what do you guys think would be max poly count to keep runtime normal on normal systems?(if that made any sense...)

Hi Mike.

I wish there was an easy answer to this question. Fact is there isn't, and let me give you an example.

I play Return to Castle Wolfenstein daily (I have to be one of the top 25 in the world, lol). I have all the settings maxed running an ATI Radeon 64 meg DDR. It runs smooth as silk. I just bought Jedi Knight II:Jedi Outcast, which runs on the same Quake III engine) and I can't turn the setting up past half without serious framerate problems. This is obviously due to newly implemented features.

Point being, it's all about the hardware market you're targeting and the type of game you're making...
