Weapon Mounting on 3D Shapes

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums so please forgive me for breaking any unforgivable forum rules! :) I'm a professional developer working for a unnamed studio trying to develop a game on my own time at home.

I want to create a 2D 1/2 game. A top-down fixed perspective with a mixture of 2D & 3D Objects.

I've been doing a bit of research on the 3D shapes but I keep reaching dead-ends. From the looks of it, the 3D shapes features will not be expanded, so this question is for those who have already expanded the 3D features or found work-arounds.

I want the player & enemies in this game to be 3D objects. I am trying to find out if anyone got weapon mounting working in the traditional DTS format? If so is there a script function not in the TorqueScript reference? If you added the feature, mind sharing some details?

I've been considering a hax where I place different weapons on the character at different detail levels since I will never need LOD. If anyone has tried this mind sharing some details?

Please forgive me if there are already details related to this on the webpage or forum. I've tried searching many times to find no results. I also tend to be very bad at searching, there's probably a giant animated image on the main TGB page that says "WEAPON MOUNTING ON DTS FOR TGB'ers!" "CLICK NOW! PLUS FREE PR0N!" + sounds

Hopefully not. . .

Look in the TGB Reference doc for a list of methods for 3D Shapes. Remember that all objects can use methods that are only described in the t2dSceneObject section.
