Has TLK 1.4 been updated?

by Tim Heldna · in Torque Game Engine · 07/01/2006 (10:03 am) · 9 replies

Hi,

I downloaded the pre-compiled version of TLK 1.4 when it was first released all those months ago.

My question is has that download been updated since it's release?

I'm started a new project, very small, and was wondering if I still have to go through and fix all those annoying bugs that were introduced in version 1.4 of Torque. I have a limited amount of time so I'm hoping at least some fixes have made it into the official download.

Like the broken explosion code, importing of fonts, alt-tabbing, audio leak in Audiobuffer.cc, particle editor, onNeedRelight Function, and so on.

This thread seems to suggest it has (2nd to last post) but I'd like some official confirmation please. Speaking of the thread linked below, have those fixes been introduced into the official download of TLK 1.4? It's quite annoying when prefs aren't being saved.

Thank you.

Hi Tim,

The TLK download hasn't been updated since the 1.4 release. There will be a 1.4.x release (based on the eventual TGE 1.4.x), which will contain all of the TGE fixes and updates, and also resolve any outstanding TLK 1.4 bugs.

Excellent news thank you John.

The lighting kit code is in top shape, one example of where things were just done right. You have my respect for that, always have. I'm more concerned with the Torque bugs that crept into 1.4 which were out of your control when you released the lighting kit.

I downloaded a fresh copy and it took me 2 hours just to get the engine into a stable enough state to begin development. The sooner a new version is released the better! To my knowledge there's no CVS version of TLK I can download so I'm really relying on you and GG to make that release available, please.

I just used winmerge and combined the latest DL off CVS with the TLK. All the TLK code is commented before and after a code change so it was beautifully simply :)

@Tim/All: The delay here is from GG, not John...TGE 1.4.2 is in the linux beta tester's hands, and we're compiling fix lists for the general release of 1.4.2.

Unfortunately for 1.4.2, Matt Fairfax is in charge of both the 1.4.2 release, and the Constructor release, and Constructor has the current priority in release, which explains the primary reason for delay.

@Stephen Hey I would LOVE to get my hands on that Linux Beta of 1.4.2 is there an active discussion going on anywhere?

I think most people here would be ecstatic to hear that Constructor currently has priority for release...

I know I am. I am anxiously awaiting word that I can ditch QuArK.

Actually I found the Linux 1.4.2 it compiles and runs sweet. But I can't seem to get TLK going with it :(

Hey Stephen i see you actually are still active and I have email several times to you and other GG employees
with questions regarding the posting of TGE with RTS and TLK edits

where do we post them without disclosing code that a viewer may not
have permission to see?
