Does anyone know the percentage of Max, Lightwave, Blender, C4D, Maya, Milkshape etc users out there who also own / use Torque? It would be usefully to know when making content packs in the future.

Blender

First I tried blender. I loaded it up, had a stroke looking at the interface, then closed it out.

So I went with 3ds max for a bit. Way too much $$$ Tried some others, like maya.

Then finally came full circle. I went back to blender for one more try. After some of Nigel's tutorials from the forums and a little bit of patience I now think it's one of the easiest and quickest modelers out there. When you understand how everything is layed out and how the interface works it really is quite streamlined, at least IMO.

I use blender.

I wish I could have max because there are a lot of tools that are always being worked on or updated. But being an indy like most people that use the torque game engine, I dont have the money to buy a program that is 36 times the price of my engine for the real license.

The high price is just a way to try to control the 3D industry.

I use Milkshape, it's a nice little program.

Unfortunately I've never been able to animate anything with it without encountering a serious rotation/scaling bug that can not be worked around and I have found no fixes for. If anybody can tell me how to avoid that, I'd be forever grateful.

I used Max 7.0 on a borrowed PC for some time, and I really began to get a feel for the interface, which suited my method of working very well.

I just need to save every penny I earn (after taxes), get evicted from the utility room I'm renting and living in, lose my storage unit, live in my car, and not eat. It would only take about six months of that and I'd almost have enough money to download Max 8.0 from Discreet. It would take a while with the ol' wireless connection at the public library, which would be my only internet connection, however, which is why I decided to just not try and make my own models anymore.

Guess I can use the time to learn more about C++ and TorqueScript.
