How do you background image on blender 2.40

Ok i have a MP5 gun image and i need to image it on blender so i can sue it as a reference to help me model. can some1 plz help me?

Wouldn't this be better answered on a Blender forum- or maybe answered better by a tutorial or the help file? I only ask because I've seen a large number of postings on this lately, and it sounds like someone is not even trying to read the manual.

Les,
I see you posting a ton of Blender related posts on here - I totally understand - I am trying to learn it too and I don't find it very intuitive. You should check out the Blender forums, they are actually even more active than the GG forums and I bet you can get more detailed answers even quicker.
