Okay. I'm going to say this gently. READ THE DOCUMENTATION ON THE BLENDER SITE. It covers adding reference images and such. I'm usually not so CAPpy, but sometimes all I can say is RTFM.

There is a modern weapons pack with a MP5. Plus, the Skeleton Pack has an MP5. You seem to need it six weeks ago by your enthusiasm, so that would be the best option. If you are using it to lear, I'd recommend something more simple like a pistol. Or the universal remote from Click which looked kind of like the plasma gun from Halo. But that would lead to high-poly nightmares of the 500k simple shape for exporters.

It will take me as long to search and point as it will you to scan the table of contents. The User Guide will get you going in the right direction with the interface and using the software. There is even a "noob to pro" section in their documentation section to help completely new people get into Blender.

Thats why i like milkshape 3d. no poly nightmares. You have to make faces manually to trace a figure around. sure it takes 2-3 hours for me to make just one but it sort of limits me. You could put in spheres or boxes, but that doesnt trace very well.

Just make a PLANE in blender an put the image on it , scale like you want and start moddeling , this the best way (they even do this with 3Dmax , same way)

and for the trace -> place a box and use Execrute (forgot the word , me not english) to put a new box on 2 faces , repeat the steps until u got an MP5 , it will look good from the side and u kan use the picture as texture , butt for the top,and back views u need to make it thinner or fatter until the shape fits right , if u want to make a normal (not highpoly model) this wouldnt take long
