Let him choose his own program. For you it might be a mess, but once you get used to it, alot of people love it(including me).
@Les Archuleta
Here are some tips:
1.Figure out how to make custom vertexes and faces(try the Blender Newb-to-Pro Free Wikibook available on the blender site)
2.Then import a background image of the gun you want to make(find that out in the wikibook too)
3.Then 'trace' it.
4.Then extrude it.
5.Then add more detail.

Yes I'm being an a$$hole in quoting you but it makes my point I think.
@OP
I made some video tuts for Blender and Torque here
www.users.on.net/~symes/gamedev/videotuts/videotuts.html
Be warned they are getting a bit long in the tooth now though but the theory holds.
There is also some stuff on TDN and in the Blender section of this Forum. Check it out you should be able to get enough info from it.
I've made a couple of rifles in Blender that work happily in both TGE and TGEA. So it is possible and relatively simple.

@Brian - Blender is not a mass of "wtf" and at the risk of coming off like a grammar Nazi, I request that in the future, you type out full words as opposed to saying "wtf. It makes you seem immature and less intelligent than you probably are.Yes I'm being an a$$hole in quoting you but it makes my point I think.

Well, I have the Mac version so it doesn't look anything like that on the interface.

The interface of Blender should look exactly the same as on Windows. You may be confused because Nigel has his interface split up to his own personal preference.

There are some great tutorials for Milkshape on Pisonic3D that'll help you get started.
And at the risk of coming off like a grammar Nazi, I request that in the future, you type out full words as opposed to saying "any1," "plz" or "u." It makes you seem immature and less intelligent than you probably are. It's also general bad form to request people write tutorials for you.
