I think the way things usually work around dev forums / learning new stuff is a 3 step process.
1. Try to accomplish what you want to get done, get stuck, figure out what question to ask.
2. Search TDN / Forums for your specific question, and if you can't find the answer you're looking for...
3. Post a well thought out question. As brief and as specific as possible, post what your question is and what you have tried already.
To directly respond to your posts - I think it's important to realize that you don't (and probably shouldn't) learn every in and out about Torque. It helps to only stay focused and take small steps at a time, answering your own questions as you go. "Useful" info should only be info relating to how you want to get your game/project done :).
And just because a post may or may not be popular should not sway someone from not posting an informative post/answer. A good answer is a good answer. And a good answer usually comes from a good question (see #3 above).
And in reality, it is #1 that is the most difficult to do, especially when it comes to figuring out you're own questions - because that usually entails more searching, researching, and searching...
But this is exactly how you learn, and how you learn only what you need to learn.
I hope you found my post informative ;).
