Wmv to mpeg

Does anyone know of an open source or free program that can convert .wmv to .mpeg? I need to make a dvd that will play in a standard video player and my videos are all in .wmv format.

There is a free download of an early version that works well and I'm pretty sure it converts WMV. Latest version requires a contribution.
