Adding a "Crouch" function

by Vashner · in Torque Game Engine · 04/07/2002 (7:25 pm) · 8 replies

I have been thinking that one huge thing that torque default does not have is a crouch function for your
character. Any ideas?

Would this required another point on the model or something? Anyone?

Instead of bumping this let me "crouch" it to the top lol.

Use the handy dandy search feature in the upper right. Search for crouch under forums. YOu will probalby learn alot.

Then, come back with a SPECIFIC question about crouching. I have probably told a few people myself how to add this into the engine.

simple common questions like this and prone implementations and pitfalls should be posted somewhere like resources or the FAQ, the "search" functionaliy for the forums is sketchy at best :-) Since it only searches SUBJECT lines. I have unsuccessfully "searched" for info, only to find it by really searching likely canidate message bodies by eye.

One example is changing the rate of fire of weapons, it is pretty obfuscated unless it is explained.

stateTimeoutValue[3] and stateTimeoutValue[4] is NOT very obvious what that does and is NOT commented in the demo app what it does, it took looking for about an hour to find this extremely common piece of information.

Over all I am extremely impressed with what I got for my $100 US.

Always remember when answering questions to ASSUME the person asking knows NOTHING!

Yeah, I agree that the search feature isnt the greatest on the web, but it works. :)

Sorry for my seemingly rude post, but its just that I didnt feel like answering a second or third iteration of the same idea.

I just did a search for the word "croutch" in every section(Resources, News, Forums, etc) and the only thing I stumbled upon was the post I posted earlier because I couldnt find anything in the search engine before it. This thread did not even come up and it has the word croutch in the topic.
