TGB Early Adopter vs Release Price

by Michael Crassweller · in Torque Game Builder · 05/21/2006 (2:29 pm) · 5 replies

Currently the "Early Adopter" price is listed at $100.00 USD. Has there been anything announced on what the increased full product price will be? Will there be a difference in price?

Thanks,
-Mike

Well, the TGE full price is $100 and this is 2D (No offence)... (Bear in mind the EA price for TGB is actually $80).

If you're not an existing TGE owner, the price for EA on TGB is still $100

What happens on June 7? Is a new version being released or just a price change? According to the May newsletter from GG, on June 7 the price goes up

Quote:
There will be a new pricing model for TGB when it exits the Early Adopter stage on June 7th. TGB with *Source Included will be available for anyone who wants the full TGB C++ and TorqueScript source code for both the engine and tools, and will cost $250 to Indies. Note that all developers who purchased TGB during the Early Adopter period will automatically have free access to TGB *Source Included.

Note the bold statement may not apply if this is a major upgrade, which is not really stated or not just that its leaving EA.

AND according to the TGB web pages

Quote:
You get access to all upgrades until a new major version comes out.

So, is June 7 the mark of a new version or just price adjusting?

Set me straight please, I could buy this ;)

I'm pretty sure TGB is coming out of EA which means if you are an EA licensee you will get this version. I don't think this counts as a major version because the EA folks have only had Alphas and Betas so far, so to make them pay again for the "official 1.0 version" would make them very pissed. A new "major version" would probably be something like TGE 1.5, TGB 2.0... In any case if you want TGB and don't have it yet it makes sense to get it now at the EA price or you'll pay a bit more later (if you want source included ).
