Marketing Paraphernalia

I'm reaching beta on a product. I've deliberately took extra time during portions of the development cycle to get things polished as much as I could. I'm taking the final stages slow and careful.
I'm gearing up for my first beta run on the game and I'm trying to plan out my marketing strategy in a bit more fullness.
It's a physics based match 3 game. My plan was Put it on as many portals as possible... I know I need to plan this as much as possible.
I've never headed into this market before, so I'm looking for advice.
What kind of graphics am I going to need? 88x31 pixel link image? 64x64 animated gif for advertisement? Banner advertisements? I have absolutely no idea what I need here. What marketing shpeals should I can up now? Should I be preparing a press release to send to sites? Should I be preparing reviewer packages to send to reviewers? or are those things that portal game developers generally dont do?
In what ways do portals require you to alter the game to suit their selling system? Is replacing the buy me link with there purchase link going to be all? I realize this is a pretty generic question.
I don't have a website for the product yet. Should I just make a relatively simple site for selling it with a link to forums for the product? I thought most products in the casual portal market relied solely on the portals for sales.
Any advice or links to sites with detailed info is very much appreciated.

I don't want to come off sounding like a jerk, but based on the questions you're asking I would say you aren't quite prepared to launch something like this with much success.. My advice would be to visit the Indiegamer forums forums.indiegamer.com where you can get some great info and feedback on all of this.

Of course a good site DEDICATED FOR THE GAME can to speed up the marketing and hype wheel, and its important to make a good press release OR SEND PLAYABLE EXAMPLES TO REVIEWERS...ETC... Its a huge task im recommend it to take it serious. Make it with a dedicated person or with a sales agency. You will avoid lot of frustrations....Anyway... GOOD LUCK !
