Poser and Torque Question

by Dark Tengu · in Artist Corner · 05/10/2006 (9:42 pm) · 25 replies

I have been looking into Poser a little bit lately and it has kindof fascinated me. I am using Silo/Zbrush for modeling and texturing and was looking for an animation package. I am however a little lost on a couple of points concerning Poser.

1) Can I import and rig my own meshes in Poser?

2) Under the liscense, can I use their animations in my game?

3) Anybody know what format Poser exports?

4) Anyone have any advice for animation software?

Thanks

Just add all of your resources to a Zip file and use one of the zip encryption resources.

I dont mean to insult anyone - but as far as im concerned poser is utter pants....slow, buggy, restricted,
and expensive..its 3D art's equivalent to the shootemup contruction kit..
If your making game content - i would advise hunting out tools that have taken game development into
consideration...
- sorry, thats just my opinion..and i probably should have kept that to myself..

http://www.fragmosoft.com/ - this is quite popular in blitzbasic scene, havent tried it myself..but it might be
worth a shot - it appears to support poser - but i dont know if anything had been done for torque export.

Yes but will the game run from an encrypted zip file? I want to make sure that the content in the install folder is inacsessable to anything but the game.

Yes. It will run. Your game passes the decrpytion key to gain access to the data.
