Hello everyone!
Rick Overman put the GPGT forum online today.
From now on, if you have any questions, errata, complaints, etc about "The Game Programmer's Guide to Torque", please post them here.
Until recently, information was posted about GPGT in all of the following places:
Thread --> New books from Garage Games
News Item --> The Game Programmer's Guide to Torque
Hall Of Worlds For Gamers GPGT Product Pages
Hall Of Worlds For Gamers GPGT Support Page
Thread --> Frustrated With New Book
This last thread was started by Roto. In it were some very good questions and well raised issues. I have attempted to answer all of the questions raised there as well as in all of the other threads by keeping an up to date errata document on my site. You can download the PDF from this page.
As of today, 10 MAY 2006, I believe that I have answered any and all issues and errors as listed in the (above) threads.

I am on Lesson #17. First, I do know that this lesson wants you to actually copy the levelloader.cs, not the teleporters.cs that it says in the book. I'm good in that regard.
The problem I am having is that when I enter Torque and buildLevel(0); from the console, nothing happens. The console log spits out a ton of errors regarding the levelloader.cs file and its use of the addEntry and getEntry commands, saying that they are unknown commands.
Has something changed with TGE 1.5 that now invalidates these commands (the book was written for 1.4- I believe)? Or possible I missed a step somewhere. Anything anyone could think of would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for your time,
Steve

So i put the "\Game Programmer's Guide to Torque Source\MazeRunnerAdvanced\mazerunner" folder in C:\Torque\TGE_1_5_2\example\. Then I modify the game to run in main.cs to mazerunner. I ran the game, opened the game editor. everything works except all the names of the folders, object in the inspector tree appears blank. it also happens in ui editor.
Any knows how to fix this?

With that in mind, I also downloaded the upgraded disk for TGE 1.5.2.
I have a question, as I stopped reading to muck around with what was on the disk, on of the appendices mentions a master server in perl that is zipped.
The copy of the disk I downloaded, does not contain this. Is there someplace I can get it or was it removed from this version.
Thanks,

Ok, so I am chimming in 3 years later, but I just purchased this book to learn TGE scripting. I have to say that I'm on page 32 and am absolutely loving this book. This book is very clear for me and presents a lot of information that I need to know. With that in mind, I also downloaded the upgraded disk for TGE 1.5.2.

It is on mine, though I haven't looked at it. It is not in the folder appendices, it is, appropriately enough in the folder called "master server". I don't think they should have taken it out. If you cant find it, try Ed's new website, Roaminggamer.com

I uploaded it to my support page under extra content.
Alternately you can download it directly here.

Would it be possible to add a download link for the Accompanying Disk from the support page in a slightly more Mac-friendly format? The current download is a Windows Executable (EXE) file. I don't have a Windows machine handy, and would love to get the current disk, since I just recently got the book.
Thanks!
ps I tried to e-mail this request via the e-mail address listed on Roaming Gamer, but it bounced back as "Recipient address rejected: User unknown in local recipient table"
