If you've done a stock install without changing directory path it should be in;

C:\Torque\SDK\example\torqueDemo.exe

The sdk can be run in several different ways.

- Starter.fps kit
- Starter.racing kit
- tutorial.base

The installer should have created several shortcut's in your start directory which you can use to switch between the kits. If you're just running the exe from the directory structure I outline above, you will have to open main.cs from the same location and adjust the first line of code ie:

$defaultGame = "starter.fps"; //this will start the fps kit
//$defaultGame = "starter.racing"; //uncomment this out for racing kit etc
//$defaultGame = "tutorial.base";

Sorry Maor could you rephrase that please,. If you bought TGE off the site there will be a starter.fps in the examples folder. If you got TGE with a book, like GPAI1, then you have a special custom version of the engine. In order to do some kind of real development you would then need to buy the stock version of TGE, here at the site.

If you have the SDK without buying it, I doubt anyone is going to help you.

Why didn't you pirate the HL2 source instead if you were going to pirate something you don't understand? I mean, really.

Maor, Theres a lot of free engines you could use to help you get started with game dev.

Have a look on www.devmaster.net/engines/
Then buy TGE once you have the money. (no one is going to help you otherwise)

Dude, The only reason we're doing this is because we're 13, We have no money, and we don't wanna get stuck off with a crappy freeware engine. Things like game maker or something along those lines just won't cut it.

It dosen't matter if your 13 and can't afford it... If you can't afford TGE... Don't use it...
I think if you keep asking for help, the chances are you will be kicked off the site.

Dude, the only reason we aren't helping you is, you stole from GG and the community as a whole. We all paid the $100 to get the engine, what makes you different from us? Take Joseph's advice, find a free engine. I think OGRE is still free and it wasn't crappy.

Also you know that pirating is illegal right? And here you are asking for help from the people you stole from. Thats like me stealing a DVD player from Wal-Mart and calling them up and asking them for help on setting it up. I don't know if there is any legal recourse from this but I'd be careful if I were you two.

Edit: Wow... One of the members of the dev team think's he can buy it... But he's 11. :U Even younger than us.

And possibly get in other trouble.

Ask your parents for money, don't steal software. Making a game with pirated software is a good way to NOT get a job in the gaming industry, which I assume is your ultimate goal.

Years from now if you applied at my company for a job, and I found out about this, I would not hire you.

Think about it. And think about what you are trying to accomplish. And think about how this might negatively affect those goals.

Just because you can't afford it doesn't make it okay for you to steal software. There are plenty of open source solutions out there you could use.

Indeed, its not a great way to start your game development career pirating software.

FYI: $100 is cheap, cheaper than the engine should be IMHO so count yourself lucky that its something you can afford with some effort. Go do some yard work, work at a store or at a place like McDonald's for a few weeks, bust your ass flipping burgers or making french fries and in no time at all can can legitamitely own the game engine. Its pretty simple even for someone who is 13.

We all had to sacrifice our time and resources to buy the engine I don't see why you should get a free ride because you are 13 and too lazy to earn some money to buy the tools you need. Games cost money to make, its a fact. If you are unwilling or unable to invest in yourself and your team to make a game then I highly recommend that you just give up right now because you won't do anything but waste your time and our time.

Use irrlicht or nebula. Both are nice engines and free. Quake 3 was released under the GPL. There are a million tutorials for getting content into Q3.

It doesn't matter if you are 13 or 60, asking for help from the company that made a commercial product and from the people who paid for that product is idiotic at best. As I noted before, download the HL2 source from a site and then start asking questions about the source code on the Valve collective. I'm sure you'll get a bunch of very helpful responses. Just like you are bound to get here.

If an infinite number of software pirates were put into a room with an infinite number of computers, would the neurons that randomly cause finger spasms across the keyboard eventually create accounts and ask legal licensees questions?

Obviously.

Don't mistake convenience for legitimacy. Use a free engine. When you get some money, we will be a lot more helpful. A6, Blitz, C4, DarkBasic, etc communities will treat you pretty much the same way if you pirate their products and expect help from paying customers, especially customers who believe in the companies.
