Robo Rescue Rangers

Dunno exactly how this will fly so soon after 9-11...but here goes anyway:

Game is a turn-basied puzzle/stratigy type thing. Essentualy the player controls the "Robo Rescue Rangers" in thier mission to rescue people from burning buildings...not real original or innovative, I know :P

Basicly each of robots at the players control is the same. But they can each put on one of four "hats"...these hats (fireman, police, doctor, and construction worker) gives the robot a set of actions that they can perform (fireman = firecontrol, policeman = crowd control, doctor = help the injured, construction = keep the building from collapseing)...additionaly the robots could combine ("Transformers" style) to create specialized machines (but at a loss of mobility, for example)...

A typical "level" could have a small group of people trapped in a elevator as the building burns around them...the player would use "fire hat" equiped robots to supress the fire...then a "construction hat" robot to get the elevator doors open...then change some of the robots from "fire hat" to "police hat" to guide the people out of the building and to safety (the people would be sort of like Lemmings...only responding to the movement directions the "police hat" robots give them)...corse the challange lays with how the players controls the limited number of versitile little robots at thier command...later "missions" could include elaborite puzzles that players must solve.

I'm borrowing a bit from RPGs like Grandia II in the turn-basied aspect...as every object would have some sort of "speed" counter...once reached the object would run any associated AI script (or it would become the players turn to control the given robot, etc..)

This game could be done in 2D even (I'm thinking X-Com style graphics) and include a "mission editor" allowing players to generate thier own scenarios...

Just throwing out a "small scale" game idea :) I'll post more if the basic idea seems acceptable to you folks.

I just noticed this post and I think this is a fantastic game idea. I'm really surprised you didn't get at least a few replies by now!

In more ways than one, Robo Rescue Rangers (I love the name, BTW :) is similar to the Little Monsters game idea I posted the other day. Especially the idea of combining robots for enhanced powers. Scary :)

I really love the idea of the game being based on rescuing people and trying to figure out how to use your powers to successfully reach and recover them. It is very Lemmings-like (only without all the killing of the poor innocent Lemmings!), even more so than Little Monsters (which, in follow up posts, has also been compared to the legendary Lemmings).

The more I think about the idea, the more I like it. It's creative, "doable," and unique. I would definitely encourage you to pursue this game.

Go for a goofy approach, anything serious just wouldn't be taken seriously! Robots saving lives?

cool idea, I know there was a rather simple sega arcade game about firefighters. Basically a light gun game where you spray water everywhere.
