Maya 7 texturing help

by Talon · in Artist Corner · 05/01/2006 (6:04 pm) · 2 replies

Hi, could someone kindly tell me how to apply (in detail) a custom material or texture to a polygon primative in Maya 7?
Please?
Because I have tried and tried to apply a Jpeg image to a house wall and it just will not do it.
So please answer this question.

First you need to UV map your object, then create a phong or lambert material in hypershade.
In the Attribute Editor click the button next to color and select "file" from the new window.
Once you have chosen your file, rght click on the texture in hypershade with your object selected, and click assign material to object. Make sure you turn reflectiveness all the way down in the attribute editor for the material (it defaults to a value that will be reflective in TGE).

If that doesn't work, then you can probably find a more detailed answer here: www.google.com
