Kork and Fluffy

by Tom Spilman · in General Discussion · 04/25/2006 (11:44 am) · 25 replies

Some one clue me into the history here. Kork is the Orc player model that ships with TGE.

I've heard mention of Fluffy before as well. Is this another name for Kork or is this the name of the TSE Space Orc?

And while we're at it... who created the original Kork and the Space Orc models?

Thanks. =)

Fluffy is the name of the Orc that ships with Torque...

Whoever made the AI for the starter.fps named the AI player Kork...

So Fluffy the Orc is the torque Orc... and Kork is what they named fluffy when they turned him into an AI player.

At least they didn't call him "Mork".

Hum.... but i see posts like this one calling the space orc Fluffy as well. So much confusion in the orc watching community.

Yes please someone start the history of the Torque orc TDN page...

Now someone needs to make a new Garage Games into instead of the white background with the GG logo. They should have Fluffy do something cool with the GG logo.

Quote:who created the original Kork and the Space Orc models?

The models were done by Joe Maruschak, from concept designs by Shawn Sharp, and textured by Weston Tracy.

I have no idea which name is attached to which model though.

Someone has named him MORK

In my GUI, which i haven't exactly updated, i had 4 orcs with those names.

Kork is the TGE orc. Fluffy was an internal joke referring to the space orc in TSE, and the name stuck, so Fluffy he is ;)

In various testing projects, I've named him Mork, Dork, Bjork and of course Tork :)

Ahhh, but an orc by any other name would smell as foul.

While were talking about orcs... The Revenge of Kork would be a great game idea...

What would it be about? The name would make people smile and check it out, but what would make the game 'great'?

The Revenge of Kork would be about Kork (as the player) taking his revenge on the GG developers. The game would take place in and around the town and the GG employees would be the end level bosses. The battle would culminate in the office spaces of GG where Kork would take on the CEO of GG man-o-e-korko!

If Kork whens the final cut screen would show Kork standing over a pile of GG employees saying, "Don't call me Fluffy".

:P

There ya go. Whole games have been made with a smaller design doc than this. LOL!

I wonder...

Who would win in a duel? Kork or Fluffy?

You guys have it all wrong!!!

Ok I added the correct lineage to the best of my knowlege to the Torque Orc Lineage wiki page. I've heard my version several times in the past but I cited a source also. I also added some wiki-article structure to the page. :-)

So here it is:

200x - Fluffy - The original Torque Orc - named by designer Shawn Sharp.
200x - Kork - The specific A.I. instance of Fluffy found in the starter.fps "Stronghold" demo mission.
2004 - Buffy - Jeff Tunnell's nickname for the new TSE orc. ( Is this the final official name? )
2004 - ???? - Actual name for Buffy (if different ).

Maybe this should be added to teh Associate-Entrance-Exam :-P

rgds,
Steven

ps. Matt Vitelli - I kept your "intro" but you need to revise it. :-)

JamesU, thats easy. Whichever one has an advanced enough AI to shoot would win.

James T. Kork vs. Jean Luc Fluffy?

During my final project we had an instructor that was really tired of seeing Kork as a placeholder. So we came in one morning for a review to find he had drawn polka dots all over the orc texture. It kinda pissed us off that he did that without telling us, but it was a moot point as we had put in the new models the night before thus stealing his thunder.
