Free WW2 Object Models

by Coldstone · in Artist Corner · 04/14/2006 (5:39 pm) · 25 replies

Here are a few free 3d object models for use in a WW2 style FPS game, there are 34 objects varying in a telephone, lockers, statue, X Barriers, Boxes and alot more. I am not sure how to upload the file to the site but here is a link to the file {Sorry Link removed until verified} place the items in your C:\Torque\SDK\example\starter.fps\data\shapes folder and bring them up in the World Editor Creator. *Some models may need Scaling/Rotation in the World Editor Inspector*

Edited: until files can be verified, sorry for any inconvenience.

@Coldstone,

I would guess that unless you are an artist for The Game Creators and/or work for Simon Benge www.garagegames.com/index.php?sec=mg&mod=resource&page=view&qid=10396 and they/he has agreed to release the FPS Creator content for free, I would re-evaluate distribution of this content. I understand that their own EULA is pretty broad as to what you can do with the content, but I'm not sure it falls under this type of distribution. Not that I'm affiliated in any way with The Game Creators, I just happened to recognize the artwork from the FPS Creator.

And if you do work for them and this is Your original IP, great, glad to see the free content.

@Alan James,

Hold on to your shorts, I will have to take that up with the one who was assisting me with my project, as the objects were passed to me in good faith to do with whatever I wanted to in my game, and as I am no longer going to create this project I had decided to give away my resources. but any assistance with this could be helpful as I do not intent on buying that software just for me to find out. As for me the landing craft and test building were created by myself using Cartography Shop and Pipeline. I apologize to who ever created the objects, if they are not from my source but I will update you as I find out.

@Coldstone,

I hope I didn't come across as harsh, it's just as a game developer and member of the community I was just concerned about the hassle unlicensed content might cause other members of the community. I appreciate the effort and realize you are working in good faith, but the difficulties that it could cause prompted me to give a heads up. I'm not personally concerned one way or another since I have the licensed content, I just didn't want to see you or a friend in the community dealing with any hassles down the road.

BTW the original work in CS 4.1 looks good. Keep it up.

- Alan

Edited for spelling.

There has been this discussion before in the TGC forums about distributing the media that comes with their software, and they have said it's a no-no. Good looking landing craft though.
