Mesh not showing up in showtool or game

I followed the steps religously in the dts tdn and some older tutorials laying around the garagegames websites. I can export the greenguy perfectly following the steps from the downloaded filepack from the link on the tutorials. I even tried to import my mesh, and then attach it to the green guys mesh, and then use the element selection to delete his mesh.
When I open the dts file in showtool, it shows only the skeleton and no mesh. I should mention that I changed the skeleton in figure mode to resize it to fit my mesh.
Any suggestions as to how to fix this or as to what is happening?
I can even export it as a valve SMD and then export it in Milkshape 3D with the DTS plus exporter, but the
mesh is laying on its back instead of standing up, and the mesh shows up both in showtool and ingame.

This is most likely a LOD problem. Check the FAQ on TDN about this. Essentially you've either put too high or low an LOD detail node thus cuasing TST or TGE not to display it as actually following what you told it to do. Check this by loading the model in TST and using the detail slider.

searched the forums on how to set this up, but I keep coming up with things that seem to never really
help.
Here is what I did this morning to finally see my mesh:
1. Deleted the MutiRes:bodymesh
2. Renamed the bodymesh with skin modifier to bodymesh1
3. deleted all the Detail nodes except one and renamed it to Detail1
4. Right clicked on the bodymesh1 and chose "Properties" and click on the "User Defined" tab and deleted all the information out of it.
5. Went to the "Utilities" panel and click on the Dts Exporter Utilitys "Export Whole Shape" button.
6. Ran the unmessdts.exe on the exported file.
I have done these same steps over and over again without seeing the mesh until now. (Except before I set the lods either by using the multires modifier and hit generate, or using the adjustLods script and then registering the details).
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, but I still wish I could find how to set the detail levels so you
can see the mesh at various LOD settings.
Every thing in the forums keep saying set these but with no real information on how to figure out what
to set them to on your particular mesh. If you use the green guys, or the Orc settings, its no go.

Toby, you hit the nail right on the head. I kind of figured it may have something to do with this, and havesearched the forums on how to set this up, but I keep coming up with things that seem to never really
help.

usually if i have problem with dissapearing mesh, i will check some of these:
1. make sure you are using correct CFG file, and the CFG file is on the same folder as your DTS source file.
2. Make sure you have all necessary helpers (detail, bounds, eye, cam, mount0, etc...)
3. Check the dump.dmp file for any DTS exporter problem
4. Make sure all the mesh are named correctly, for example if there is only one detail helper with "detail3" name, then all the mesh must have "3" on the end of their name, for example "MyMesh3" or "MyPlayer3", etc
5. If you use MultiRes / LOD setup, make sure to use unmessdts.exe to correct the dts before you open it with ShowTool/in-game.
i hope you can fix the problem
