Of course I'm not George Broussard. When you see an actor on TV impersonating George W. Bush do you think he really is George W. Bush? I'm not Dan Partelly either. I'm someone who has kept his mouth shut and played nice. But I got tired of the constant waiting and delays. I also got tired of seeing other people ripped to shreds on the forums by the fanboys and zealots. In some cases simply for asking for an approximate release date or the current status of the engine. Out of frustration I finally snapped and vented in the form of the rant I posted. I shouldn't have done that. By posting that rant I reduced myself to the same level as the flaming fanboys and zealots. So I'll just say that GarageGames current business practices and the current state of TSE do not fit my needs for my current project, and I'll leave it at that. I have removed the offending post and requested that the moderator delete this thread. I will simply leave now. I sincerely wish you all (even the fanboys and zealots) the best of luck in your current and future projects.

Wow, such hostility.. It's all going to be alright. I wish you luck in your game production endeavors, please keep us informed of your newfound improved workflow and project development. I'm excited to hear about the engine technology you have switched to that continually and promptly releases new features, and contains little or no bugs.

BTW: I'm wondering how you know so much about TSE/TGE seeing from you profile that you've been a member for a day? I'm guessing you are just a very fast learner.

Have a great day, and I can't wait to play your finished game with engine X. Do you have a link to your website?

Not another let's draw attention to ourselves thread. Since it's April First, let it fly. This may make for a funny thread.

IF TSE is incomplete, then its pretty stupid to be flaming, it....

There was no reason for that post either, if you dont like TSE then thats youre problem....

BTW I would also like to hear more about youre new engine, and look forward to playing your game.

Edit:Oh, wait, your using DarkBasic.

There are two quite reasonable possibilities as I see it.

Perhaps the most obvious but not necessarily true;

1) Young George is using a pirated version of TSE

or

2) George is a valid member and owner of TSE, or TGE, or both, but doesn't have the courage to reveal his / her true identity therefore has created a bogus account for his / her post.

I'm leaning towards No.2 as no-one in their right mind gets that upset over an engine they have never owned or used, that they have paid for.

George Broussard is an owner of Apogee Software, which includes 3d Realms.

I think someone may be pretending to be him. I would hope so...

Good research Josh, that fits in with the theme of his post perfectly.

So it's point No.2 I made above.

Back in the day, the ship of fools would sail along the skirts of London, an eternal transport without dock for the vagabonds, the insane, and other dissidents that society wished to forget. The ship of fools eventually was replaced with the asylum, institutions where bedlam was commonplace. The deinstitutionalization of the 1960's moved these oft displaced mental transients to the streets. In the early 1990's, the popularity of the internet provided an outlet for our new irrational transient society, an electronic metaphysical ship of fools; constrained to the outskirts of online communities, destined to troll the waters in any number of transitive ways.

I think it's possible that this guy impersonating George Broussard is Dan Partelly as you can see from his TSE rant he did a couple hours earlier over here. Can't say it is him for sure, but the same childish unprofessional attitude is evident in both posts and the timing seems like too much of a coincidence to me.

Awwww.

This thread started with such promise. I'm all for poking fun at 3D Realms where it comes to Duke Nukem Never ... I mean Forever and Prey (or Pray?).

So...how much trouble could a guy get for impersonating someone else over the internet? I mean, the real George could raise a stink about this, right? :P

I am such a dumbass. A friend of mine sent me a link to this thread and I actually believed it until I got to the line about the credit card. Say what you will about DNF but we'll all be drooling over it when it is done. I hadn't heard of TSE until coming here. I think this guys plan to lure people away may have back fired on him. I've been looking around the site and I for one find this to be most impressive. I didn't know anything like this existed. If my coding skillz were better I might give this a go myself. Does look like you guys have a lot of tuts & stuff though. Could there be hope for an unskilled n00b like me? I doubt your man Dan could get in trouble for his little parody he did say april fools & GB wouldn't be slamming DNF so its obvious that he wasn't really trying to pass himself off as the real GB. And the real reason its called Duke Nukem Forever is because thats how long we'll all be playing it when it is done. After you play the best you won't want to play the rest.

A team of a dozen random Indies could bang out Duke Nukem before 3D Realms gets it finished. LOL

Quote:In some cases simply for asking for an approximate release date or the current status of the engine.

1. Its out for an Early-Apopter release and there is no guarenteed release date, It's written on the site and if you wish to keep up with development and estimate a release of the next milestone, actually read the staff and associates blogs.
2. The current status of the engine is (I beleive) Milestone 2, with Milestone 3 being the next release.

For status updates on the engine, keep a close watch in the TSE public forums and the Product Page

I gues you've left and couldn't care less that the GG community is all about helping independant and hobbiest developers creat games by providing state-of-the-art game development tools at a standard only rivaled by C4 and Sylphis3D for it's price, and support for other programmers in general OpenGL/D3D trouble.

@Removed,

You are not alone. Many of us wholeheartedly agree with everything you have said. And yes, the exodus has truly been happening for quite some time.

The sad thing is that your words fall on so many deaf ears, some ignorant, some innocent, but victims all the same, if only by wasting time.

Know that your efforts, particularly in the April Fool's bit of this thread, are very much appreciated and your fierce determination to communicate your honest thoughts is most admirable if not enviable to say the least.

Bravo! to you, Bravo!

Nothing more to say, for you have said it so well.

Does your legion of "many of us" consists exclusively of people with who have no profile, one post under their belt and who seem to have registered just today solely for the purpose of a trollish post? :)

You know, if you have a compliant, send an email to GarageGames, they won't kill you for stating your opinion! In fact, the more feedback the better the engine can get, thats how 1.4.2 came to be. So instead of wasting valuable database entries with long-wound rants, try this! You'll find a much more fufilling reply (but don't just fill it with insults or you definatly WON'T get a reply!).
