How to let the sun light illuminate interiors?

How all,
I want to have the sun light (or ambient light)
come through the openings in a building.
All openings (doors, windows) are properly sealed
with portals. If I don't put a light in the building
it's pitch black inside so I assume that there are
no leaks.
But as soon as I set one of the portal to
let the ambient light come in, the interior
is f*ed up : the inside is lighted way too
much (like the outside in fact), many polys
are not lighted properly. To the point the
dif just can't be used. (I'd like to insert
snapshots here, but don't know how to)
I tried also sealing everything then using
lights to mimic the sun light, but the
result is pretty bad. I can't for example
approximate the shape of a window with
a static light, the lighting looks very artificial.
I guess a lot of people has met this problem
before, I'd be very grateful if somebody can
give me a clue.

If you own the TLK, you can also use sgUniversalLights instead of using the interior's own lights. That wau the lights can affect players as well, and with the newest TLKs, you can make a light obey the portal/zone settings, so your "fake sun" lights won't leak to outside the interior.

Well, unfortuanlly, for portalized interiors, using static lights is the way to fake incoming sunlight. If you own the TLK, you can also use sgUniversalLights instead of using the interior's own lights.
