Level Designer/Texture Artist Looking For Experience

by Tyson Busch · in Jobs · 03/15/2006 (5:01 pm) · 10 replies

Hello, I'm currently a student at the International Academy of Design in Toronto Ontario studying Video Game Design and Development, and am currently looking to join a good, serious team of developers to help further my skills and be an asset to the team.

If there is anyone out there looking for a reliable guy let me know. You can see some of my work at http://www.tysonbusch.com , just put up the website so there is not much there to see yet, but expect plenty more in the near future.

Consider putting your talents to the test by entering our map making contest.

Age of Muskets American Civil War
Torque Game Engine Map Contest
June 15th - August 15th, 2006

Electric Slide Productions, LLC and the AOM Development Team are bringing you the Age of Muskets American Civil War Torque Game Engine Map Contest.

Welcome to our Map Contest.
We are a small team of independent game developers working on an American Civil War shooter. While we can not afford hiring several individual level designers, who may or may not end up producing quality maps; we can offer the TGE community an opportunity to win some prizes for creating the best maps. If you have the skills, then work your map magic and enter our contest. Why are we doing this you ask? Because in order to collect the cash prize, the winning level designer must agree to contribute the map towards the Civil War game project, assigning nonexclusive rights to the map for use in commercial game. The level designer retains rights to use the map in his/her own personal and/or commercial projects. So the contest is a good way for us to add quality maps to the game project and the contest is a good way for level designers to gain recognition and may be win prize money. This contest is not associated or sponsored by garagegames.com; the contest is being run and offered by Electric Slide Productions, LLC.

Thank you,

@ Jonathon:
"Holy Cow" Batman, this "multi-posting" could only be the work of the Riddler - wrong my friend.

I wanted to spread the word about our Map Contest quickly since it only runs until August 15th, so I posted it to the main forums. Tune in next week at the same "Bat time" (Sorry. I'll stop) - Once we relaunch the website I will post to the Snapshot Gallery, so we let as many mappers know about it as possible.

We don't have the big bucks to spend on freelancers who may or may not make good playable maps, so we decided to have a contest with cash prizes to encourage level designers to make some cool maps.

Visit http://ecatalogpages.com/esp/civilwar.html for more details.

Plenty of independent projects ask for help from the community, we are putting our money where our mouth is and offering cash prizes for the best American Civil War Torque Game Engine maps.

Contest Details
Entrants will be challenged to create an American Civil War multiplayer battle map (historical or non-historical) for use in future commercial game being developed with Torque Game Engine (TGE 1.4) from garagegames.com. If you've licensed TGE, then you have all the tools need to get started. Completed entries must be received by August 15th, 2006, and will be judged on its originality, design, multiplayer balance, and overall by how fun and challenging it is to play.

We are looking for the best multiplayer levels made with original content. We are looking for small to medium size maps, designed for 8 to 16 players. We plan to offer several gametypes, including Death Match, Team Death Match, Capture The Flag, and Conquest. Maps must be compatible with TGE version 1.4.

* Your design and contents must be within the style and era of the American Civil War.
* Looking for maps in the style and layout design similar to Battlefield "1861" or Call of Duty "Civil War" shooter.
* The map must use original and/or public domain materials (including skybox, terrain, models and textures) designed by the entrant. By participating, nominees (entrants) certify their work has not been plagiarized from any other(s) and does not infringe upon the rights of any third party.<>
* We have licensed various garagegame.com content packs and kits, including: Synapse TGE lighting kit, BraveTree bundle pack with trees, Tridinaut's soldier pack, so if you have your own copy, then we would be able to use them in finished map.
* We are using the TGE water upgrade, which adds shader support for waterblock.

Prizes
Grand Prize: $125.00
First Prize: $100.00
Second Prize: $75.00
Third Prize: $50.00
