I can make maps sorta well, and I can sorta make interiors (I made a very, very basic wall and castle. Wall is just a wall, with little things on the side, see concept art, it looks like that, but with horrible textures. And the castle is just 4 walls with the classic I forgot what they're called, but they block most crossbow fire and let you fire through) but i can't do textures, so that gives me problems. If someone would like to make some textures for me that'd be great. Also, I need somewhere to put up my map. I can't shell out the cash, unfortunately :P. Also, when I made the interiors, I tried using the textures that are already in the game, but I have to re-do them as .png. I also have a map done, it's basically just a hole full of water, a dock going into it, 3 towers, and about 6 hovels. I'm putting the finishing touches on it. If anyone wants to help me with the things I said, it'd be much appreciated.

I will be working this weekend to convert the old v12 mod site to a Realm Wars only site, I will post once it is up.

Chris, I put the RW TA updates in my plan file :)) sorry I didnt post them here.

Another update due soon, I'll pop that in my plan as well.

As for content. Yes, we shouldnt really be going too far, but I dont think a bit of modding really hurts. We bashed out a team based mod just for a bit of fun. No-one is expecting anything from it to go into the next demo release.

Having said that, its all good experience for what needs to be done. RW or not. I like "playing" with the game when the content feels good enough. Its much more difficult for me as a programmer to play with my code when I have to look at really bad models or my own crappy art.

Which is why working with some great artists always raises my spirits. I can see theyre artwork take on a new life because of my code.

If i could procedurally generate everything in the game, I'd do that and be the happiest camper alive! :)

I've created three or so maps, but my host won't service them because they aren't a specific file type. >< Also, even if it were, for some reason I can't get the files to link to anywhere but my hard drive. >:[

Also, map making in this demo version helps us to expand our knowledge of what can and cannot be done with what we already have. Not everything was incorporated with Stronghold you know. Having new maps isn't holding us back, so why complain?

My ICQ is 84667993 I believe, and AIM is Damien Reklaw, Yahoo is seijin_of_jouten, MSN is elimccl@hotmail.com.

I can send my ter and mis files through there, as I prefer it to e-mail, as I have a 21.6k connection and don't like loading pages. :(

Hey, Im looking for some general info somewhere about how to begin building maps for RW. I have some very generic ideas for content that would mesh well with pretty much any type of gameplay...

First, learn to use worldcraft if you want maps with custom buildings and stuff. After that, check out http://web.lemuria.org/T2/Mapping/ for tutorials on the editor. Even though it's for Tribes 2, it uses the same engine (obviously) and thus is mostly the same. Also, refer to the in-game help manual (for RW, not Tribes 2) for some commands.

And actually, since that is my page, I should really take the time to make a Torque version of it. Most is still true for Torque, but some things (especially keyboard shortcuts) are different.

Just going back to what people were saying earlier about more maps being bad, I half agree, but I don't think thats the be all and end all.

I'm brand new to the Torque engine, I've only had Tribes 2 for a while and when I heard about Realm Wars I came straight on over. The problem for me, is that I've not yet had a chance to try mapping or scripting and so I might as well practice now, while there is little else for me to do. So in that respect I disagree, and think people should make maps. On the other hand though, its no good people churning out loads of rubbishy maps (like mine), so I think people should really be sticking to making one map, and then just improving it. This is esspecially true, since there are only a few things you can put in a map at the moment, so why release a map that will be obsolete by the next milestone.

I don't know, but if the engine, checks the version of your map against the one the server has then it might be worth hosting games yourself for people to try, and look at the improvements. However if this is not the case, then I recommend not hosting any more maps than the one that comes with the demo.
