Help with old versions.

by Unlisted · in Torque Game Engine · 03/12/2006 (2:03 pm) · 7 replies

Right now I bought 1.4 version of torque I want to downgrade to 1.2 since most resource codes here are for that version and I'm not very experianced at all with scripting. Please can someone tell where or how I can download 1.2 torque or if I even can? thank you for your time and sorry if this is in the wrong forum

I think you can just put that version into CVS and get it. I could be wrong though...

Well I got CVS running fine now but, what would I type in? Like if i type in ""torque"" it begins transfering the lastest files for the engine if I'm correct. So what would be the words for torque 1.2? I tried "torque 1.2" no luck. Thanks for any help at all, I really appreciate it.

Well, I tried to get that release from the CVS server (Release_1_2_0), and it appears that it doesn't exist. I also can't find the original web page that discussed downloading Torque with WinCVS. Perhaps someone "in the know" will drop by and assist you.

You might be better off trying to adapt the resources you're interested in to TGE 1.3 or 1.4.
i believe 1.4.2 is expected sometime quite soon.

Yeah, most of the resources from older version that actually worked well can be adapted into 1.4 without too much trouble, and the changes the engine has seen since 1.4 are a significant improvement from 1.2.

First, thank you for replying and helping me on the issue I really really thank you once again. I know 1.4 is very much advanced from 1.2 and is what I SHOULD be using but I just really want to learn a little by applying codes and things to that version. So still I am looking for version 1.2.

If you want to learn on 1.2, buy the book 3D Game Programming All in One. It uses 1.2.

You won't have the source code (just the equivalent of the "example" folder), but the book goes through scripting and some other stuff. The Advanced 3D Game Programming All in One book uses 1.3 if I recall correctly.
