Torque 2D problem

by Chris Gottron · in Torque Game Engine · 03/11/2006 (3:37 pm) · 2 replies

Whenever I try to run a Torque 2D demo the game is going extremely fast. For example, the fish demo shows the fish going by like bullets... everything seems to be in turbo mode. I have no idea how to fix this. It's like my computer is processing things faster than it should. The Torque demos are the only program this happens with. Any idea how to fix?

Computer Specs:

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 3800+
2 gigs ram
geforce 7800gt video card
300 gb hard drive with plenty of free space
19 inch samsung monitor

I fiddled with all the settings in the games, including trying opengl and directx, as well as the resolutions and color depths. It just seems extremely fast.

Also if I click off of the application window, things slow down a whole lot but they are too slow, almost standing still.

This is a problem with the X2 processors. I'm pretty sure you'll find the fix by searching the forums, I think it's been talked about several times.

Oh okay thanks, that helped. I don't have service pack 2 for windows so I'm not able to install the latest drivers, but setting the affinity to only one CPU in the windows process menu fixed it. It's just kind of annoying having to do that every time I load the game or program. I guess I need to get service pack 2!
