They are okay, they have some stretching issues and i would definately be very careful about using someone elses photos as textures.

Would be interested in looking at the wireframe of these models, poly counts etc.

Buy them, make them or you can take your own photos.

@Bryce - To retexture these create a new layer in Photoshop (or other pain package) and trace over the photos, section by section. You just do a basic colour fill to start with, then go back and add gradients, shading and embossing for indents - then add a metallic looking noise filter. You will be able to create your own art that looks like the real thing - in fact it will look better because you can control the hilights.

@Bryce - I've been trying to find weapon texture cd's you can buy, but no luck so far - however I did find this thread on texture and copyright...

Bryce can you get a bigger image up there you cant really make out any details in the one you have there.

Its not as easy as that andy, sure it will give you a base but to create realistic looking textures is difficult and requires alot of practice in hand painting textures. I do believe that the over all result would be better though.

Bryce I will certainly by your model packs if they exhibit the same quality as the shots you've posted. What I would like to see is:

yes, more pistols =) Desert Eagle, FN 5 7, glock 16, taurus .45, etc.

Mainly, a fire animation of the bolt/slide/action etc moving appropriately for ejecting shells to look natural.

I would easily pay $15 for a pack of ten of these models, and I make less than $10,000 a year =) don't undersell yourself too much.

One possibility for the textures is to use the photos you're already using and use them as a reference to draw your own textures.

Bryce,

Your poly counts are pretty low. Considering the gun in an FPS is the only piece of art you see all the time (besides the HUD)...you are free to spend a lot more polys on them.

I'm also building a weapons pack. Before I started I consulted with several experts on an average poly count. The consensus was between 1400 and 1600.

Yes don't sell them too cheaply. Maybe you can make a budget pack for non-commercial use, but I would think - considering the amount of time you are saving people - you want to sell these for a minimum of $20 US - are they scripted as well? - you could ask for more if they are scripted because the customer then only needs to drag-n-drop them to use them.

Im scripting. scripting is fun

i've found a way to make the pistols semi atuo, by the way. one pull one shot

You could offer them at differing levels. Basic just come with the models, intermediate comes with models and scripts and advanced which has more animations and lod options as well as sounds and scripts.

Maybe concentrate on currently used firearms, AK series, M16, AR15, M14, HK G3, FN FAL, SA80 etc for assault rifles for instance. There are many more, but those represent the most comminly used ones.

Handguns, sripted and animated to allow the slide to rest in the locked position when fired out (Empty) etc.

Doing a teired release would allow you to start selling sooner, and build upon it, adding to the pack and price.

Again, just my two penneth.

Looks good so far.

Hey Bryce, nice models... but maybe add more detail to them...

I started making a weapons pack a few years ago, but I got too busy with other work... :(
