I've been thinking of creating a content pack aswell. What are people looking for in a content pack?
Weapons, buildings, code?

I've made a few props so far (Beds, furniture, all with relevant shaders) Is that what people are looking for?

$10 each doesn't seem fair. A pack with four weapons for $20 would be fair. A pack with eight for $40 would be well-recieved but $10 each seems like too much.

And one little bit of advice: Make sure that you aren't texturing your model with your reference photo. That is illegal because the photo is copyrighted.

@ Minectro: I think there would be a reasonable demand for a code-pack that would allow artists to place their stuff directly into a game and not have to mess with code. If you could do stuff like drag-drop unit-placing, menu-based AI choosing (basically choosing settings for something like AI guard), and all the kinds of things that mean that you could make a game (even one that is highly derivative) without need for touching script.

Doing something like that would be difficult, but I imagine it would sell pretty well.

Mincetro, a content pack of contemporary people with regular clothes would be most valuable to this community. no animations, rigging, or nodes are necessary. just normal people of different races and bodytypes in a neutral pose. say 10 people for instance. I'd buy that for $50 easy.

@Brian: I thought he ment he was going to sell the entire pack for $10 a copy. Either way he's underpricing or overpricing himself...

I dont know, for $10, I'd buy a well made model with supporting animations, effects and scripts etc, ready to drop in and work with.

I dont think I'd buy unrigged/unanimated static models of people though. And if I wanted them, there are plenty out there used for architectural visualisations etc.

I do want to buy buildings and contents. Generic office buildings, warehouses etc. Prefab steel business units are pretty universal. Thats key, universal style buildings. There are very different types of housing etc, depending where in the world you are, and using them would limit their application.

Thats my tuppence worth anyway.

Just regarding sounds for weapons. Where can i get sounds from if I wanted to on-sell a gun as part of a content pack? I mean I don't have a bunch of guns lying around that I can test fire to record the sound - and who does?

So how is it possible to on-sell sound fx for guns? I imagine that customers want accurate reproductions of gun fire?

You got the wrong message. im not selling ten dollars per model. ten dollars per pack of 5-10 models

Thanks for the link Bryce. I think they're probably copyright but I'll use them as a reference.

What would be a good price for a pack if i scripted these weapons that i showed you (except for the FN 5-7. not a very popular gun but its cool), put sounds, actually made sure that each side of the gun is different (there is not a shell ejection port or a rate of fire selector on both sides of a gun), animated them, and tested them?

p.s. why im underpricing is so that more people will buy because of the low price so with that many buyers there will be more money than an expensive pack sold to maybe 8 people. Tell me what you think and i will consider it.

EDIT:spelling

One of the latest models looks a lot like the modded cs source model here http://www.counter-strike-dl.com/download-435.html
just noticed the similarities.

Master Trb: that gun is called the fn f2000. It was what the splinter cell sc20k was based on. the first pistol model i showed was the five-seven, which was the pistol in splinter cell (real sc fanatic)

I must admit, those guns do look pretty neat.
