How does one record an in-game "video-preview" with TGE?

by Steven Peterson · in Torque Game Engine · 03/06/2006 (8:27 am) · 5 replies

I investigated this several months ago (ala. 1.3 era) and there seemed to be no favorable solutions. Lately however, the "video-previews" have been popping up all over the place:

eg.
Dungeon Pack Snapshot of the Day
RTS Content Pack (product page)

I was curious how recording in-game footage like these(above) is accomplished (in TGE 1.4 now) and a brief search didn't turn up anything. Could someone point me in the right direction?

Hmm had tried that and remember having problems with it. I'll have to give it another shot though.

Hi Raven.

I've used Fraps with Torque and had no problems, and it's certainly the standard around here.

Fraps of Gamecam here for recording games, both have advantages and disadvantages that vary from game to game.

I'm using ACS Capture which can capture any part of the screen... it is more CPU intensive then fraps but creates video that is supported on all systems. I have noticed problems with general support with Fraps.
