License Question

by Richard_H · in Torque Game Engine · 03/03/2006 (5:41 pm) · 8 replies

I'm wondering if I can move my copy of Torque to another computer and let my brother and freinds use it. If they actualy start to make something they will buy a copy of it on there own. Would this be okay under the Torque licensing, I would realy like to teach my freinds how to use Torque so they might buy it.

You can give them an .exe and script, but you can't transfer the source code around.

Not the source code, the license is "non-transferrable". Of course if you don't tell anyone.. >_>

They should either use the demo, checking out the script side of things and the demonstration of its core features, or buy their own license.

What about the example folder?

They can use the scripts but not the source code.

So your saying that I could put a copy of only the example folder on another one of my computers and let them go through the GettingStarted.pdf and try it out as long as I don't show them the source code (I've barely looked at it myself).

Yep you got it.

What if I alter the source code then recompile it? Then could then give them the new example folder?

Yeah. This is the same as distributing your game. Even then they do not have the source code. So you're still safe.
