Q inspired by "DSQ no visibility support?

This post is about a question that came to mind while reading the thread " DSQ no visibility support?".
I loved that thread becasue it answered a few questions I have never seen talked about before regarding dsq's. Thanks Dave Wyland for posting such in-depth answers!
Ok question:
My team uses TSTpro alot. I'm curious about why some things work in it, but don't work in the game.
For example, we have been pulling out our hair trying to get IFL animations to work on the player textures and weapon textures. Our game "theme" is hugely based on energy weapons - I hate to describe them this way, but the closest thing to them that you might be familiar with, is the lightsaber. As such, we really want to have the wepaons be animated with shimmery energy effects etc.
IFL's work in TSTpro, but not in-game. I'm just curious what hoops the game engine makes our meshes jump through that TSTpro does not. This question hopefully might lead me down the right track in finding where the disconnect is happening.
And in general I'm just curious about the show tool, differences between it and the engine... what sort of things does it do differently than the engine.

In the article i wrote here you will see that you need to add a script to Start the animations, Dosnt matter what tool you use to make them, the proceadure is the same. The script will "Trigger" your animations on loading. Most likeley TSTPro makes use of somthing along thoes lines and is looking for it.
